By the looks of it, I'm fairly certain it'll be a standalone sequel. Making it cheaper than the original game (which they'll still want to sell some) won't be a good idea, and too complicated (taking one extra step) to sell it cheaper to previous owners. Not to mention it's also being released on console, which seems unlikely that there'll be a different, non-standalone version. Pretty sure this is no expansion, as much as I'd like it to be.

It's a whole separate game. I don't know why everyone thinks it's coming out as an expansion, download, etc.
It's going to be a $60(360; $50 for PC) game, just like most every other big game that comes out new.

About the price point:

So.

Left 4 Dead 2 is "we milked money out of you with Left 4 Dead as a 'test' to see if you were gonna just throw money at anything we make... and you did... so now, here is some more. And it'll cost you another $50. Thanks, suckers."

This is a dickhead move and assures that there will be no more content for L4D, or more Campaigns as we have expected from a company like Valve. These developers are ruining Valve's reputation, in my opinion.

I definitely won't be buying it, the first one wasn't super wow to begin with, leave it to the consolers.
