space sim games that support TH2G

Post by bsoder »

I'm very much looking forward to Jumpgate Evolution coming out sometime this summer. I've been a fan of space-based flight sims for a long time - Elite, WC, Xwing, etc. I've played EVE as well but being a point-n-click type game it's a completely different animal.

I'd really like to find a joystick-style space sim that supports 5040x1050 resolution; anyone know if anything out there right now does that, online or offline type game? I need to start getting my reflexes back in shape for JGE.

Star Wars Galaxies works with TH2G digital. I've been toying with that game a bit lately. It has space combat.

Yes, X2, X3 and X3: Terran Conflict all run in 5040x1050.

Freelancer works - with a little tweaking, and so does spaceforce (I think...).

I think BtRL is officially vapourware. The demo was released two years ago, and last October half the team left the project. There's been no update since.

X-Wing Alliance and TH2go?

Post by Flusifan »

Does anyone know how to run X-Wing Alliance with a TH2go?

The hack at

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/

seems to work, but when the game tries to switch from the single screen menues to the big resolution in the mission, it returns a message that 3D hardware cannot be found. Afterwards, options are set to "software" 3D acceleration (640x480).

Anyone experienced the same? Any idea?

Vendetta Online supports TH2Go I think. Worth checking out the free eight hours of playtime.

Just tryed it :

That work, at least for 3d part there are no proble with fov or with resolution... and that's quite awesome to fly alongside the colossus in triplehead.
Now the only problem with that is that the hud is stretching across the 3 screens... and it's very stretched.

There is no fix for it for now, and there won't be if nobody ask for it.

But if some people wants it , they should read and why not post in that thread : http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php/topic,61065.20.html
to show there are people interested in having a triplehead support for freespace2

Note that triplehead works only with the Matrox stuff as long as freespace2 scp is a opengl based engine now (and softh works only in direct x mode)

Freespace in Eyefinity glory:

Gives you an idea of the HUD stretching. I don't really mind it while playing. You get used to it pretty quickly.
Sorry that the screenshot isn't really showing much.

In the Launcher you can change a lot of stuff.
The Ultra Widescreen does only work with this as far as I know.

NOw it works perfectly with freespace2 scp
i forgot to make an update here but with the latest build it works
you can find my 3840*1024 setting here :
http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.php?topic=69858.msg1382534#msg1382534
for triple widescreen a conversion need to be done if someone will to calculate it.
anyway freespace2 in all it's triplehead glory :

As you can see : the hud is no more stretched and it works natively in opengl.
