ATI 5870 and overscan

I currently have a 8800 GTS that i would like to replace. When i connected it to my HDTV via a DVI-HDMI adaptor, i couldn't get rid of the overscan. Will a 5870 connected in HDMI work on a TV that cannot turn off the overscan?

ATI has overscan/underscan compensation in the driver, so you can adjust if your screen do that. :)
