AMD learned from the 754/939 fiasco. I think Intel might learn from i7/i5. ;)

Once can only hope... because this is complete rubbish.

I've been thinking about this, and since the rest of the discussion has been public, I'll make this public too.

...

...

Frag Maniac:

If you have a problem with Tamlin or myself, or our conduct, take it up with Ibrin.

But don't go dragging the community this forum has tried to build into it. Gaming and hardware, particularly on the PC, are deeply linked. Widescreen gaming, until very recently, was a fairly high-end past-time, so tended to draw enthusiasts. Hence the hardware discussion.

You want more discussion about games... you've made a thread about your GTA4 videos, so make more threads about more games! :) They won't all take off, but if people are interested in the game in question, they'll join in. What little gaming time I get, recently, seems to be spent gaming, rather than discussing gaming. If I like a game, I'll be playing it. If I don't like a game, I won't want to be playing it, but equally I won't want to be discussing it either. What little non-gaming free time I have had in the last six months seems to be exclusively taken up by the WSGF.

...

Enough said on this matter.

Back to the topic of price tanking on the first generation 200 series cards. My initial hint was when I got the 260 open box from newegg the other day for $157. My current find I simply find insane. Buy.com has the EVGA GTX280 SSC for _$200_ listed right now. Sounds like they're pushing hard on GTX285 and the GTX280's are EOL. I just picked up 3 from buy.com about 30 minutes ago. Man, I still can't believe I got GTX280's for $200.  Last week I would have never though I'd be relegating a 260 to a physx card and being tri-280 in the computer I'm currently building. I'm building on the Foxconn Destroyer mobo, so I'll be ok for 4 200 series as far as slot room. Now what the heck PSU do I need to run 4x 200-series and a 125W Phenom II?

BTW: On a separate note, this means I'll have to go back to triplehead from quadhead. tri-sli only works in vista or newer. That means I'll have two brand spanking new DDH2G and a Samsung 245BW up for grabs shortly. I'll probably ebay list them. Alternately, anyone want to trade a DTH2G for those 2 DDH2G and a small bit of change?

EDIT: The SSC has reverted to pre-sale price but there are other 280 deals still active in the post below.

You will want at least a 1000w PSU for that, and that is not just the usual exaggeration (most high end PCs might use 600-700w). Looking at Trubritar's videos on YouTube, running 2 4870X2s and then 3 GTX280s, he was actually drawing 800 watts...

...so get a good PSU.

I'm not teasing. The SSC were $220 + $20 mail in rebate until about 11am today. I bought 4 @ the $220 price at 1:50am this morning.

Here you go for simular listings:

EVGA GTX280 SC $211.49: http://www.buy.com/prod/evga-geforce-gtx-280-super-clocked-1gb-gddr3-512-bit-pcie-2-0-sli/q/loc/101/208290487.html
or
BFG GTX280 OC2 $237.99: http://www.buy.com/prod/bfg-geforce-gtx-280-oc2-1gb-gddr3-512-bit-pci-e-2-0-directx-10-video/q/loc/101/208353392.html
or
XFX GTX280 $239.99: http://www.buy.com/prod/xfx-gx280nzdf9-geforce-gtx-280-1gb-ddr3-pci-express-2-0-sli-ready/q/loc/101/208237674.html

I don't tease. Not my problem if you didn't get an SSC in time. :P

OK so I added one of those 200 dollar ones from that new link Ghimpi. But when I view it in my cart the total is over 350 dollars. WHY?

Not sure, I find it hard to believe that Buy.com has all their 280's with screwed up pricing. I'm just hoping my buy goes through from 1:50am. I'm gonna be mad if they cancel my order. They've had my money since then and I got transaction confirmations from both paypal and buy.com order receipt.
