Post by scavvenjahh »

Start here : http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/support/gxm/software/?os=2&product=71

Released 12/19, available for all operating systems. New verbose auto-config utility upon install. New icon too ! :D

Can't test it myself right now. Does it help with 5040/Vista issues, bezel management etc. ?

Well I installed the new suite and now I can't run 3x1440x900. I have an ATI 4870 and before the new suite I could display 1440x900 on all three screens. Any Ideas?

I can run single or dual screen @1440x900/screen but not three.

What happens triple 1680X1050@55 and not 57 htz ????

Post by Simu67 »

Hi,

I have tested the new driver. It only shows 1680X1050 at 55 htz, no more 57, and as i've tried this setting, my LG monitors stay in save mode, no way to come back at working setting.

So I had to reboot in safe mode. powerdesk refused to uninstall, si
I have changed the driver installation directory name. Now I can reuse my PC without Powerdesk.

Has anybody seen the same things ?

Works fine on my PC running XP, I haven't run Vista for ages.....since I dropped Tri-SLI cos of my new dual GTX coolers. I hoped that it would allow me to select 1920x1200 in games but no such luck still limited to 1680x1050. So I will keep swapping cables for CoD MP, BF etc.

this sucks. I was hoping that issue is fixed with the new software.
I'm in the same boat as you. but I "switch out put display" via software instead of switching cables.

only bad things some games don't work comming of dvi port #2.

Yeah I have a VGA cable from the VGA input on the centre monitor..it doesn't have 2xDVI. I switch it at the GPU end, cos my rig sits on my desk and is easy to get at.

Thanks for the link.

Now, does the suite contain anything special beyond what I already have installed (SGU, GXM)? If not, should I bother, since my system is working fine right now? (Don't have Vista or triple-wide)

Looks like the Wizard is the only difference. I think I'll pass for now, since I don't want to fix what already works. ;)

Thanks for the info.

Which nvidia driver are we supposed to use with this new release? Im running vista 64 and neither 175.xx or 180.xx work at 5040*1050.

180.xx show 5040*1050 but it goes out of range. If I add 5040*1050 wit hthe 175.xx driver it also goes out of range.

The previous driver worked fine with 175.xx

Sorry, link fixed. Thanks Edward.
Can anyone confirm the refresh rate of 5040x1050 was changed from 57 to 55 Hz :?:

i loaded the new software. was not able to see 5040x1050 in the GXM setup app but when i created a custom display in nvidia it seemed to work fine (for the first time) in the games. so much for bezel management. oh well....

Ok, I was able to get the new driver working with nvidia 175.xx. Shows 5040*1050 @ 57 Hz. However, in some games 5040*1050 is NOT selectable in some games. I was able to force it with cfg files and command lines.

My mistake before was that I needed to reinstall PowerDesk after a video card driver install. The video driver install wipes all custom resolution set ups so PowerDesk needs re-installed.

I was really hoping they fix/improve on something...

ohh well wake me up when either of these happens:

- I can get 1920x1200 on XP without having to do the damn cable/gpu switch.

- 5040x1050 at 60hz (duplicate a frame or what ever if it have to) so I can finally game at higher than 4320x900

- 3x1920x1200 at 16bit or 24bit color. ( would be cool if it works)

Didnt add or even list 5040 modes for me. It didnt overwrite my manual modes however so Im using that. Rather pointless making a fancy new Wizard that does nothing..?

Again I would like to point out to people that you can send 60Hz 5040 to the TH2G, it outputs at 56Hz (ish) regardless. This is important as a few games do not list or support non-60Hz modes at all (Dead Space most recently).

That's good to know indeed, thanks :)

Well I attempted to run the update and immediately lost my custom resolutions. When I tried to put them back, my monitors went out of sync and I had to do a system restore

I have:

Vista 64 Business
2x MSI 260GTX's in SLI
Running driver version 177.35
2x Chimei CMV221D 1x Samsung 2253BW

In this setup, I can get 5040x1050

Upgrading to the new suite I cannot get this resolution

I have attempted to update to 180.84 WHQL drivers, which have a HOST of improvements for my video card, and I cannot get 5040 x 1050.

I've tried the custom resolution (found elsewhere on this board) running the CUDA drivers and still cannot get 5040 x 1050.

Matrox is fast becoming a bad taste in my mouth.
