This port from xbox to PC only supports 800x600 or 1024x768, is there any way to get this to run in 1440x900?

What GFX card do you have?
I believe it is limiting resolutions available depending on how much VRAM you have. A hack will be needed, or a command line to ignore the memory check. Have a look for tweaks for Assassin's Creed. As they run on the same engine, you may get lucky if you borrow some tips for that.

I have a GForce 8600 GT 256mb ram which should be plenty to run this game in native resolution.

I'll check the Assasins Creed info on that, thanks.

That would make sense. I feel more confident that it selects your available resolutions based on VRAM. I have 512MB and it gave me a max of 1680x1050. No 1920 :(

Many modren games use more than 256MB of VRAM on full quality textures alone, I wouldn't be suppised if this game comes close.

Well, because it only runs in 1024x768 it actually looks worse on my monitor, even with the graphics set to Full.

I cannot for the life of me understand why they dont support widescreen from the start.

because they think we're still in the 90's.

So what about a patch?

I couldnt find a file to edit so I could get 1920. Anyone else have any luck in where to find one?

If iy uses the assassins creed engine it has to be somewhat similar. Theres no way this game is more taxing than assassins creed.

i hate this shit, why game developers don't just implement this resolution
from the start???
is it THAT HARD to do that?

and this game is also seems to be a flop...
no special tricks and the menus is awkward....

in regedit:

Code: Select all

HKEY_CURRENT_USERSoftwareUbisoftShaunWhiteSnowboarding1.0Engine

   "ScreenResolutionHeight" , 768
   "ScreenResolutionWidth" , 1024

change to any resolution you like, as long as your monitor supports it
you still will get black bars, Assassins Creed engine

I vote Mortibus for MVFTP of the month :) (most valuable first-time poster)
I was considering purchasing the game to see for myself, still am actually. No new PC snowboard game since Supreme Snowboarding... (except the PhysX-powered aberration that is Stoked Rider...) Too bad SWS seems like another crappy port of a so-so game. :?

DR is under way, check the ws screenshots section. 8)

On my rig (30" panel, 896 MB GTX260s) the launcher has only 4 resolutions to choose from :

800x600
1024x768
1280x720
1680x1050
:?

Using the reg values you can set it to any res/AR you wish, including TripleHead - but you often have to use greater values than your actual desktop res's or it won't work.

Example for a 1366x768 screen :
ScreenResolutionHeight 1536
ScreenResolutionWidth 2732
(768x2 and 1366x2)

For a 1440x900 screen :
ScreenResolutionHeight 1080
ScreenResolutionWidth 1920
(i.e 1920x1080, a superior res of the same AR)

just checked the resolution (1366X768 + double that numbers)
the resolution gives black bars at the sides and a black bar at the bottom.

this game freaks me out! just deleted it, didn't understand the purpose of this game anyway, bad game/port.

DELETED!

The game is anamorphic in widescreen, so black bars are to be expected. For some reason the pillarboxing looks indeed slightly odd under Vista only :? but it's nowhere close to ruining the game.

This game may feel like another half-assed port with confusing gameplay at first, but it's really good and growing on me. Going everywhere on the huge areas at a click on the map and searching "coins" is loads of fun - even using the keyboard (2 "analog sticks" sets of keys + NumPad!) Now I'd just like to understand how to have that score multiplier get past x1.5

Sure. Anamorphic 16:9 in 5040x1050 = a 1867x1050 picture size. So no letterboxing but the image spans across the three screens. The red lines divide the second shot in 3x 1680x1050.

No fix at this time. The FOV hack for Assassin's Creed didn't pop up overnight, y'know. All we can do is cross fingers and be patient. And donate to Racer_S
