Dead Space for PC?

Post by Sweetz »

I love this game. I'm very disheartened to see that its sales aren't that great.

EA finally puts out a a great, original game (and hor+ no less) that had some love put into it and the frat boys of the world ignore it and just go buy generic shooter sequel like they always do.

The backstory and universe that they created through all the ancilliary materials definitely had some legs to it, and they only touched on the surface in the game, but it looks like we may not get another game set in that universe. :cry:

I'd buy it, but I've never been a great one for horror games/films. F.E.A.R freaked me out enough in places.

@mikeh
Was just a personal opinion, and yeah, i would like to see that chick play with ... what did u wrote ... teddy? :wink:

@topic:
I really don't see why i should play it again with a 'i-win-suit'. Story keeps the same ... and i already gimped out my favorite weapons (cutter and 'machine-gun') in the first run.

Only reason to play it again would be, if there's a opportunity to change the fov, cause it really plays like having binoculars on all the time.
Or maybe a first-person-view?

Well, i think EA still won't go down.

The reason for its failure could be because it came out right around GOW2...so many people that enjoy mindless shooters are doing that right now. That and for more intelligetual shooters there is fallout 3. With big titles, new ones don't do that well.

Doubtful about the GoW2 theory.

Bioshock last year came out only a month before Halo 3. And we know how Bioshock failed in the sales charts...

From what I’ve seen, Dead Space actually exceeded the sales target that EA had set for it. I don’t consider that a failure or bad at all. They’ve already announced Dead Space 2, which they said they would only announce if the first one did well.

This is my game-of-the-year.

No of course not, but the point is that for the first time in a long time EA has invested in creativity instead of pumping out licensed games and incremental improvement sequels every year (though they're still doing that too).

If these games don't sell, it means they're not going to invest in them anymore and they'll go back to pumping out schlock that the sheep of the world buy in huge numbers.

Really? Well that's excellent then. I was just looking at vgchartz.com and based on their numbers is hasn't even cracked a million in combined console sales yet (though they don't have the PC sales numbers). I had assumed that number isn't that great based on the sales of other big studio releases which seem to hit a mil in their first week of sales. Perhaps that was an erroneous assumption, or perhaps vgchartz' numbers are wrong.

From what I read, EA was only expecting 400,000 units sold in the US within the first month. It sold 470,000. It's not much higher, but it still beats EA's expectations.

No matter what, this is the best game I've played in years and probably will have played within the next year or so (until Dead Space 2 hopefully).

I forget whether or not I missed this, but how were you disappointed in Bioshock?

Not from my recollection, but you said that Dead Space was the best game you had played in years.

Last year Bioshock was my game of the year, and was consistently on the top of everyone's list for great games of '07.

Because of it's high ranking and you saying "in years," it led me to assume that (based on what I've seen of your attitude) you were somehow disappointed in it.

I was just curious why.

Just because he favors Dead Space doesn't mean BioShock was a disappointment?

That's how it is for me, anyway. I loved BioShock through and through, but Dead Space beat it out on my top 10 list. That's not to say I'm actually comparing them, Dead Space is just better in my eyes. Ken Levine is still dreamy, though.

Now would you kindly shoot their limbs off?

No, more of the fact that he said "...played in years" made me think that.
