Hello everyone! just odered a TH2G
I just bought it off ebay. Th2G digital edition
I got a few question for you guys.
1) I shouldn't have any problem with this setup right?
9800GX2 I will be connecting 3x VGA monitor to the TH2G via DVI->VGA adapter right?
2) what is this "softh" thing I hear about here?
3) I seen a picture somewhere in this forum where someone have like a game spaned on 4 monitors how is that done?!
4) anything in particular that I should be aware of prior to setting it up? or using it?
current setup:
Intel Q6600 at 3.2ghz
Win XP pro 32 bit
2.5 gb ram
9800GX2
3x Dell 2001FP 4:3 monitor
I'm so excited I can't wait till it comes

OOHHH FUDGE!!
I just googled SoftTH..
it seems it can do the job of the hardware TH2G :(
so I pretty much wasted my $$ on the Th2G?
I mean I already have a triple monitor setup already.
L and R monitor is run from a ATI FireMV PCIx1
C center monitor is run from a 9800GX2 PCIx16
how does SoftTH compare to the real thing?

OK Softh is a great solution for some games. It has no res restrictions (within reason) and you don't need to pay for it.
But TH2Go fools your PC into believing the 3 monitors is one so it is a hell of a lot easier to get to work on games, the supported list is quite long. If you are a one game charlie and that game is supported by SoftH AND you are happy to do some tweaking then yes you have wasted your money. If you want to play lots (but certainly not all!) games in surround then TH2Go is the way to go... just IMHO obviously :)

Actually after using SoftTH for about an hour... it's not good.
found some problems with it:
1) It's software based so it takes up CPU cycles
2) don't really work with all games (but then again I don't know how much better/worst compatibility is to the actual hardware thing)
3) it seems to limit my fps to about 25-30fps. (I guess the pushing of frames from one VC to another saturate the PCIE bus?). it could be my VC being stressed from rendering 3840x1024 but UT2004 runs the same speed as Crysis warhead so it can't be my VC not having enough power
4) doesn't work with SLI. seems to use only one GPU
5) the color on the L and R screen is downsampled to 16 bit and the image seems to be alittle bit blurried
6) LAG . the L and R screen kinda lag behind the main screen by about 1/4 or 1/5 of a second.
softTH is not usable for fast paced FPS games but for non realtime games like RTS and RPG (mabye flight sim and racing but haven't tried it yet) it is amazing.
with that said, it still is an AWESOME piece of software and somewhat usable. once u tryied surround gaming.. it's hard to game in a single monitor
Hello everyone! just odered a TH2G
I just tried a few racing games with the SoftTH
1- Pure
2- Outrunners 2k
WOW. it is REALLLY fun!.
the fps is around 30 but playable and the extra wide field of vision is more immersive.
the lag on the L and R screen doesn't really affect game play.
I don't have any flight sim to try out though
anyway. after having tried a glimps of triple head view.. I DON'T WANT TO GO BACK!
and $229 for the Th2G it's not that bad and I don't want do deal with the ahssle of software compromise
here's some snapshot of my setup: I can't wait for it to come:
