warcraft 3 1400x1050

Post by fritzzz »

Hello wsgf-community,
I have the problem that warcraft 3 won't run in 1400 x 1050. I have an 22inch TFT with a 1680 x 1050 native resolution. The TFT is set to fixed aspect-ratio scaling. Nevertheless Warcraft 3 isn't accepting 1400 x 1050 even when I change the registry strings "resheight" and "rewidth", warcraft 3 is just starting in 1280 x 1024 (with the black bars). I also tried to run it as admin or in xp compatibility mode, didn't help.
I'm also playing warcraft 3 on my 17inch laptop with 1200 x 900 perfectly fine (1440 x 900 native). I'm just curious why this isn't working on my desktop pc.

my system specs:
TFT: HP w2207h (driver+HP My Display installed)
GPU: MSI GTX280 1024MB (Forceware 178.13)
OS: Viste Home Premium 64-bit

First question what is popping in my mind, does windows have your 1400x1050 resolution? Mayne vista don't like that

You can create that resolution with nvidia control panel.

1400x1050 shouldn't need a registry edit. It's a 4:3 resolution, and as such was in the list of available resolutions when I last installed WC3. :)

Ok creating the resolution in vista made it visible in the warcraft 3 video menu, so far so good, but now it gets streched to fit the screen. When I switch to 1280x960 it's in aspect ratio? WTF I don't get that, it's also 4:3. Do I need to adjust something else in the nvidia control panel? I played a bit with the back-end parameters and changed the active horizontal pixels to 1400, which resulted in an aspect ratio in warcraft 3, but there's only a big black bar at the right :(

Hmmz, don't know this thing, you have to let nvidia do the scaling. So keeping those resolution things normal, and let the scaling do his work.

Are you using DVI as input? I know that there was some bugs about that in the past, but thought it was cleared up in vista :?

No, my display has a d-sub and a hdmi input only. I'm using a dvi to hdmi cable.

Hi all,
I had the same problem in Warcraft 3. I'm using a 28" HannsG HG281 monitor. My graphic is a very old ATI X1050. Thought it should be the graphic card, because I setted fit scaling in my catalyst control center, but nothing changed and all the registry hacks (you can find this solution everywhere) won't stop stretching in the game.
THEN I started to analyse my display!!! And I found in the menue an option: ASPECT RATIO: It has two modes: FIT or FULL. It was setted as FULL. I changed it to FIT and then I had my black bars on the left and right side!
Now the game is running properly on 1280 * 1024. I could make more, but my graphic card is too slow ^^.

I guess most of the widescreen displays should have this option...

Hope I could help.

Too bad that isn't the case, that is internal scaling, so the monitor does the scaling. Most screens I know doesn't have that. But thanks that you shared that.

And yes, most monitor should get that option.
