Quake 3 on 2880x1024

Post by sxiii »

Hi.

Sorry if my question is in wrong topic, but i found this topic is right.

Here's the question:

I run quake with all recommended settings, my config:

seta cg_fov "110"
seta r_mode "-1"
seta r_fullscreen "0"
seta r_customwidth "2880"
seta r_customheight "1024"

But the game shows for about 70% of my two monitors, other 30% shows gray texture with (often) shield on it O_O

Here's screenshot:

Why that happends?

P.S. Radeon X850XT with LCD on LCDtoVGA [1280x1024] convertor and CRT on VGA [1600x1200], so i choose my maximum 2880x1024.

Sorry, i didn't find any info on other sites... It's hard to find anyone, there are not so much gamers in russia playing more than one monitor :)

Thanks.

I'd take a guess that it's a limit set by the X850XT. I do remember at some point some windowed programs I ran on my old x800xl capped out past a certain width. Although instead of showing grey going too wide simply made the entire window stop refreshing.

Ohh, i guessed same thing... Too bad :( Maybe some workarounds? (buying new video adapter is the best workaround, i know, but for now want to leave this card...)

As I said, only a guess. Did you try other resolutions? like 2880x768 for example?

I tryed, but not the one you said. Will try also.
And i run UT99 (first UT), then alt+enter window mode, then tryed to resize the window more than 70% of 2 monitors (less works well), when it goes more than 70%, game exits with huge strange error. So probably you guessed right about limitations of my video adapter... Have2buy new HD4870 or something like that... :)
