Trying to take the plunge

Ive been using dual monitors for about 5-6 years and had even gotten to the point of multitasking on two computers via http://synergy2.sourceforge.net/ I am finally wanting to look into tri screens ( or maybe a fourth if it is at all possible for my setup)

I have questions about what would be the best cost/performance ratio. I would like something within a budget of $240 or below for each monitor since I want it to all be matching. My current experience with monitors has been my pelican crt 20inch and my recent monitor a 22" Samsung Syncmaster (t220). I am pretty sure my only option at the moment for multi monitor is eyefinity since my video card is a 5870 sapphire.

I'm basically looking for the best monitors I can use for the dp to vga adapter that are either 16:9 24" or 16:10 22". I am also not really sure about 16:9 since I have never used one but if it is 2" bigger I should not see the difference between my 16:10 22" besides it being wider.

Any input and help would be greatly appreciated.
