Hey! I have the LG Flatron L225WS and when playing games below my native resolution (native is 1680x1050; I often go for 1280x800 because there isn't much visual difference, but a huge performance impact), parts of the image are off-screen and the OSD shows that the current resolution is 1024x768.
When actually playing the game in that resolution everything is on-screen, but the picture has to stretched then right?
In Call of Duty 4 this became very apparent, because the HUD on the lower left is only partly visible. I also tried the widescreen fixer, but that didn't do a thing. So what can I do?

I'm surprised you don't notice a visual hit, everything but native res looks like crap on my monitor.

Anyway, if things are getting cut off at 800 maybe try 1280x768? Have you tried hitting "auto" when in the different resolution? Have you set your control panel to scale and maintain ratio? Etc. etc..

Yeah I was surprised, too when I first tested it, but the image is crystal clear.
Auto made it even worse, but 1280x768 worked and is properly recognized by the monitor, so it seems my monitor uses 16:9 on lower resolution. I don't really get it but it works! And it's good to know. Thanks!

What kind of connection are you using ?

It seems that using VGA cables can result in odd problems such as the one you're having. DVI cables seem to clear a lot of those issues up on their own.

Far as lower resolutions go, I fiund that in some games using lower res but high AA results in better performance, but looks pretty mcu the same. Though i only go as low as 1440x900 on MY 22...

I'm using a VGA cable. My Notebook has a VGA slot and a HDMI slot.
And since I saw few monitors with a HDMI connector I went for VGA.
