Crysis?????
Does anyone here play Crysis?I plan on buying it after playing the demo I am hooked.
Crysis?????
No.
No one that comes here plays it.
The plethora of Crysis-related posts are a clever rouse to trap unsuspecting users.
To what, I cun't say.

Crysis?????
Yeah lots of us play it, but be aware that the first level in the demo runs at higher frame rates than the rest of the game.

actually, only the dark partIf you're implying The Core is the only part where the frame rates drop lower than the first level, that is far from the truth. In fact The Core compared to other levels is one of the least resource hungry. Anyone that's played on a mid-range spec system knows there are key places in the game like Onslaught and the deep jungle fighting in The Crossing where the FPS can plummet quite a bit. In fact there are several spots in the game where if you don't use stealth wtih such spec it turns into a slide show. There's not even much action going on in The Core to cause any drop in FPS.
Crysis?????
ive played crysis a little while ago.
the game is pretty good even on Dx9.
the gamplay is challenging but can get a little repetetive.
the only thing that is not good is the ending which is an open ending.
so im waiting for a sequel/expansion pack.

I found it WAY too short.
I was hoping for Far Cry length, but sadly it was less than half that...
Hoping Far Cry 2 will be better.

I'm holding out hope for Far Cry 2, also.
Crysis was little more than a tech-demo with a bit of poorly done story pasted over the top when you boil it right down.
And this is coming from someone who actually quite liked Crysis... I just wish the person who came up with the bright idea of those damned flying and escort sections at the end would just have... not. Just not.

... I just wish the person who came up with the bright idea of those damned flying and escort sections at the end would just have... not. Just not.I take it you mean Ascension? You can easily mod Ascension with options like carrying the Moac over from Exodus, being able to parachute and being able to exit once landing the VTOL. Believe it not even without the MOAC there is enough firepower to get you through on foot too. The only other thing you might want to do is place an aircraft of some sort near the beach to fly back with but I think you can actually trigger the level end just by swimming to the trigger point for it.
I really got into modding that map more so than any other but finally stopped my project because I can never get the dang AI I place to work like I script them to. I did have a lot of fun with the hover craft I placed and the swath I cleared to drive it on though, as well as opening up and finishing the two tunnels in the map.
I also added a Gauss tank at the very back of the convoy that could be driven all the way to a warehouse I placed at the beach refinery. There was a Hunter I put in just before the warehouse too and if you timed it right you could drive the hovercraft up onto the land and right under the him before parking it in the warehouse.
I think they totally wasted a good map by making Ascension a quick fly through. I don't mind the flying and got pretty good at it but there's so much to explore on foot it should at least be an option. I was surprised to find that half of the convoy is actually alive too, not dead. There are other guys near the refinery too that are alive.

That sadly sums up most games I've purchased this year. Oblivion being the worst.
Just finished Crysis...decent enough medium for displaying next-gen video processing. :D
Crysis?????
I've seen a lot of people say that.
I give it more credit than that. I really LOVED the first half of Crysis. The graphics were absolutely stunning, and it ran really well for me. It has wide open areas so it's not extremely linear like most shooters. It gives you plenty of opportunity to fight people from afar, or get up close and fight them or punch them etc.
It has all the weapons and explosives you could want from a shooter (could have been better but it's as good as any other shooter I've played anyway). But then it lets you drive a variety of vehicles - even a chopper and boat... and then the icing on the cake is the nano suit. It wasn't just a gimmick, but something that actually affected gameplay. It let you have a stealthy approach whenever you wanted to. Or a rambo approach whenever you wanted to. And you could jump onto buildings etc.. It was just a little something extra that most shooters don't have.
The first half of the game was pure bliss for me. I loved every minute of it. I felt like I was there, and just loved it. The only problem is that half way through, it all went wrong. I didn't like the aliens and once they showed up, I no longer enjoyed the game nearly as much. But that wasn't enough to make me forget how great the first half was.
I'm really looking forward to Far Cry 2, because.... well it looks better. It seems everyone agrees with that. Can't wait.

Crysis?????
I'm now more optimistic that Far Cry 2 may be playable on my single core after having better than expected results with AC, but I worry FC2 will suffer the same repetition problems in it's gameplay that AC does.
Ubi seems to be leaning heavily toward shootouts with factions and their decision to omit predators I think is a big mistake. Adding predators could have made the environment more immersive and realistic and added more diverse options for side tasks.
Hunting for rare pelts to get supply money, rescuing villages from the predators here and there, and keeping wild animals away from certain factions would vary your rep with AI more and really open the game up. The game could just end up being a shooter with a few RPG elements that aren't necessary to make use of, like STALKER.

I enjoyed the heck out of Crysis. Played all the way through, and now I have started again at the hardest setting. A little short, but i guess we were paying for awesome graphics...not storyline.
Waiting on the next in the trilogy.

Crysis?????
I finally played Crysis and... just wow. I went in thinking it would just be a tech demo but I really enjoyed it.
I have two 8800GTX cards in SLI and thought it would run like butter, BUT it was pretty clunky in DirectX10 mode. However, using this tweak guide http://www.tweakguides.com/Crysis_13.html section "Enabling 'Very High' Settings Under Windows XP or Vista DX9", I could run it in DirectX9 while still looking very good.
I also used the "Natural Lighting" mod that's out there. http://www.crymod.com/thread.php?threadid=14195

That Natural Mod is farking awesome. The Crytek devs should be embarrassed.

I'll agree there. Crysis didn't look bad but that Natural mod... wow...
Crysis?????
Oh wow, does that reduce performance at all? I'd like to try it out, but I don't wanna turn down my settings. ;_;

It axe-murdered performance on my HTPC (Vista64, 3870)...
But, as always, YMMV.

I already had finished it. I liked the whole thing, except when I ran into bugs in the last boss battles. I guess some people only liked killing Koreans but I was glad when that part was over.
