I posted this over in the general widescreen forum.... but figure since it is TH2Go specific, I might get more help here. :)
Just purchased Civ 4 Gold and am really enjoying learning it.
I'm running at 3840x1024 and have applied the fixes discussed in the WS thread.
The City View is now working properly .... but the map view will not let me zoom out as far as I was able to before the edits.
For example, I was able to see the world zoomed out enough that I could see stars behind the planet and was able to spin the world around and clearly get a good feel for the globe and continent positions.
Now, however, I can only zoom-out to "low earth orbit" and thus it takes awhile to spin the globe....
Any thoughts?

yeah, you can edit the CIV4DetailManager.xml (all of them - there's one for the main game and one for each expansion) like this:
The stuff in comment quotes ( ) is the original value.
[edit: misunderstood how the value works]
The smaller the value is, the farther you can zoom out.
you can make the value even smaller, but then you'll see large parts of the map twice, since your viewport is larger than the earth circumfence. :)
i think there's a setting that specifies when the map is actually wrapped on a globe, but i don't really know which one that could be.
Code: Select all
<Fader>
<Name>CAMERA_MAX_DISTANCE_FADER </Name>
<!-- <Value>0.75</Value>
-->
<Value>0.5</Value>
</Fader>The stuff in comment quotes ( ) is the original value.
