16:10 or 16:9

Hello.
I want to get new monitor.
Which is better for 3Dmodeling, gaming.

16:10 or 16:9

I'm going to get 24 inch monitor but i don't know which is better.

The aspect ratio alone does not factor that much. 16:10 is more popular now but 16:9 will be common in the future.

It really depends on what applications you are using and more importantly the resolution(s) you plan to use.

I went for a 16:10...more viewing area, plain and simple. More gaming area and also more vertical area for desktop apps (if you work on your PC as I do).

For HD viewing, you'll just have some black bars above and below (for 16:9) but even HDTV sets have this as movies are in a different aspect ratio altogether.

You'd think somebody along the line somewhere might have had the foresight to standardize everything...

16:10. More resolutions. I was going to get a 16:9 but i realised that while playing 4:3 games I'd be unable to play them at 1600x1200. Unless it's purely for asthetics, a 16:10 display can do every res a 16:9 can spit out.

16:9 is cheaper, like way cheaper. But heck 16:10 is just so much better :shock:
