HDMI Adapter?!

Post by thefunk007 »

Hi Guys,

One of my screens has HDMI can anyone confirm whether this will work with eye infinity or do I need an adapter in order for it to work..

I have read some thread but it's all getting a little confusing as to what I actually need.

Thanks,
Lea

HDMI from card to screen will work. But you still need a DP > something adaptor or native DP screen in order to get eyefinity to work

HDMI Adapter?!

EyeFinity needs at least one DisplayPort monitor to work. However you can replace a DP monitor with an ACTIVE DP to DVI (or HDMI if you can find on...) adaptor. See the thread at the top of this sub-forum.
The other two outs can go to 2xDVI or 1xDVI & 1xHDMI... note you could use a DVI to HDMI adaptor (normal) on one of the DVI outs to get 2xHDMI.

But the important thing is that if you only have monitors with so-called legacy (DVI/HDMI) inputs you need to get an expensive active adaptor to make EF work with more than 2 screens.

The 5870 and 5850 have two DVI connections, one HDMI connection, and one DP connection. You connect your HDMI monitor directly to the GPU via an HDMI cable. You only need an adapter if you need to convert the DP signal into DVI, HDMI, or VGA,

Aye, however, Mach is right - for EyeFinity to work, you need something on the DisplayPort. The HDMI port shares a TMDS transmitter with a DVI port, so two DVI and one HDMI won't work. :(
