The Sony could do 1920x1200. I can't remember at what refresh rate. Either 60Hz or 72.

60 for so high resolution, sounds very very bad for the eyes.

I used to have a 60 14" monitor (14 years ago or so) and I couldn't play for more than a few hours.

Hmm, I did have an Atari SM124 before that, I think it was 60.

What put me off more, however, was the fact that it was 24" deep, and therefore deeper than my desk at the time, and the fact that moving the thing solo would have given a weightlifter a hernia. :lol:

It is heavy. 8)

Exact measurements is 11 and 7/8 inches vertical and around 18 and 7/8 inches horizontal.

One cool thing is that it remembers each different resolutions view settings. I can move and scale to my preference. Plus there is doublescanmode for teh older games.

Again, it is heavy. Like around 100 pounds. Not that heavy in general but is an awkward carry up the steps. 8)

The max is 85 at 1920x1200 not 60.

It's been a while since that monitor was discussed on the forum, so I guess I didn't remember everything perfectly. ;)

Yeah I considered the 24" WS Sony and/or HP CRT on Ebay but the shipping weight made me pass on the idea. I think they're only about 22.8" viewable too. Even my Sammy 26" HDTV CRT only weighs 87lbs but I had a hard time just lifting that up on top of the 49" tall shelf I put it on behind my monitor. It's not so much the weight as the height that was hard. Love my HDTV though and free over the air High Def (watching the Gator/Tiger game in HD as I type this). I'm still hoping Samsung will eventually make a 27" 1080p LED backlit LCD HDTV. It would be the ideal all purpose desktop display IMO.

The arcade game Virtua Racing already supported widescreen in 1992, but only for the deluxe cabinet.

Well, as long as we're not talking about PC games, you could say that Nintendo supported widescreen as early as 1981.

I wonder if 320x200 would be considered widescreen.
Cause, for example, Atari ST "low" resolution was that. Also the computer supported other two resolutions, 640 x 200 / 640 x 400.

It's 16:10, which is considered widescreen now, so yeah, I guess it counts. ;)
