Hi All,
I am waiting (impatiently) to receive my TH2G-D and have been thinking about my set up. I have already a 24' Dell and soon to have the TH2G. The PC is also in the living room and is close to our main HD TV. So I am wondering is there a (TH2G compatible) ?switch? or something that can easily swap from the TH2G, Dell and TV by pushing a button. DVI Compatible. Rather than changing the cable out of the GPU every time! I have found splitters, but thats not what I am after and I cannot see any that do WUXGA (1920x1200) let alone 3840x1024!
Cheers for your help

To pass 3840x1024 you'll need a dual-link dvi switch, I think gefen makes some.

I don't understand however what you'll be switching, the 3x19" are the only one needing the 3840x1024 source no?

If you switch the 3840x1024 source directly into the 24" or HDTV it won't work.

OK I have thre monitor set ups I want to use with my one PC. I want to be able to swap between tham without having to go under the table pull out the DVI cable for one then put in the other. I will have three DVI cables that I could possibly fit to my PC either the one leading to my 24' Dell, the one leading to the TH2G or the one leading to my TV. If I could plug one cable from my GPU into a box that could than out put to one of those cables it would be great.
Obviously I would have to change the res set up on the PC but that doesn't involve crawling around under my desk!
Not a show stopper but it would be nice
Cheers

D'oh having red a bit more about the TH2G I have found out you need TWO cables (DVI and VGA) for it to work, so my switch plan is very unlikely.
Oh well I will just have to clean under my desk so I can get at the back of the PC easily

Hmm, I just remembered, doesn't the TH2G-D have dual outputs, like dvi+svga? in which case you could use the SVGA without a switch, less hardware but of course you'll need a decent cable since one won't be digital.

A dual-link switch such as:
http://www.gefen.com/kvm/product.jsp?prod_id=4322

might work, it's a bit expensive for your purpose, someone else might have a 2x1 DL one, I just had gefen's site on hand.

It's a shame toggling sli on/off requires a reboot, otherwise you could just use that with one of the 3 leftover dvi ports on your gtx's.

Personnaly I'd suggest some dvi extensions so you can put the 'to be swapped' part on the corner of your desk or something, certainly less expensive. How often you count on swaping em anyways?

It's my understanding that the 1x HD-15 (analog) for input, 1x DVI-I (digital) for input, 3x DVI-I (digital) for output, 1x USB for power
at
http://matrox.com/graphics/en/gxm/products/th2go/digital/home.php
specifies
1x HD-15 (analog) for input, 1x DVI-I (digital) for input as one or the other, a backwards compatibility thing for people without dvi output.

Don't have one myself so I can't test it.

Hmm I think what I said before makes no sense since it's vga input not out put lol, sorry.

I'll just let someone else help you, I'm more confusing than anything at the moment.

Yeah, it does all look a bit expensive. How often will I swap, quite a lot I suppose. I play the BF series with my clan often and intend to use the Dell (looks a bit weird to me on the TH2G), ArmA and STALKER as well. But everything else I can I will use the TH2G- a long list of games I play all the time. I have 4 DVD players in my PC just so I don't have to keep swapping disks! (I got them out of retired PCs at work  ) So will be swapping back and forth a bit, but the extension cable idea sounds better and a lot cheaper
Cheers again

Sorry for being very off topic but you reallllly need to learn about mini images and virtual drives. :)

A Mini image is essentially a 1:1 Replica of a cd (created with alcohol 120%) but only ~100kb big.

A Virtual Drive as the name suggests is a Virtual DVD drive that lets you mount (with Alcohol 120% once again) the mini image.

Not only can it load a few times faster then with a regular dvd/cd erm theres no second part to this. Im done :P But you really should look into it :)

Ok, let's clear up a few things.

1. The Digital TripleHead2Go has digital (dual-link DVI) and analogue inputs, but only three digital (single-link DVI) outputs. There are no analogue outputs on the Digital TripleHead2Go.

2. Dual-link DVI KVMs are expensive.

3. Dual-link DVI KVMs that have more than two outputs are either really expensive or they don't exist.

Here's my idea. There are three "monitors" to switch between:
A. TripleHead2Go
B. 24" Widescreen
C. HDTV

I don't know what video card you have, but chances are it has dual DVI outputs. So, connect the primary out to the TripleHead2Go, and the secondary output to your 24" widescreen monitor. Get a secondary GPU, which should be really cheap (i.e. nVidia 8200, 7300, 6200, etc.) and connect your HDTV to an output on this card. You can have all three "monitors" active in windows at the same time (for a total of 5 screens) or you can turn the 24" widescreen and HDTV outputs on and off as needed. A secondary GPU is a lot cheaper than a dual-link DVI KVM switch.

This work as long as you don't want to game on the HDTV. 2D will work just fine.
