Anyone willing to do paid custom FOV hacks???

Post by norvegia »

I have a 16:9 plasma TV with a 1024x768 (4:3) native resolution that has rectangular pixels; many games offer the option to gain horizontal FOV so the picture is not stretched but many others don't.

I've tried contacting Racer_S (over here and on his forums at Tocaedit) because he did paid FOV hacks some time ago, but he doesn't reply; so I'm just offering my money to anyone that has the skills to do custom FOV hacks for some games that I have that don't compensate for the horizontal pixels with a 4:3 resolution.

If anyone is interested, please reply here or leave me a PM.

Thanks.

Perhaps posting a list of games you had in mind would help out.

Check Here first. Some of them already support widescreen.
Crysis does natively. And we've got fixes for surround support too. Not sure what else you need.

Out of those four, the only one that needs adjusted is Gears of War, and you can adjust that via the console.

Thanks for replying skeeder but did you read my first post? What I'm asking is to be able to play at 1024x768 (native res of my plasma) but with a corrected horizontal FOV. As I said, some games offer this aspect ratio correction for rectangular pixels (CoD4 or Prince of Persia, for example) but the ones I posted, although they offer proper widescreen support, lack that option.

Out of those four, the only one that needs adjusted is Gears of War, and you can adjust that via the console.

I know this may sound confusing but I'm not asking for a proper widescreen support of the games I posted because I know they already support it, I want a hack to be able to gain horizontal FOV in those games while playing at 1024x768 so I get an unstretched picture.

We are talking about rectangular pixels not square ones.

I see. I didn't read the first post in detail enough.

I do make a Widescreen Fixer app that lets you select various aspect-ratios, but it's only for specific games.

I can look into other games, but there's no guarantee I can do anything.

ScummVM already does that. The game already runs natively at 320x200 as is - 1920x1200 is just a matter of sextupling the pixels with optional hires filters.

What's wrong with you? What kind of "insider" makes fun of other users?

It takes a special kind of person to see my comment as a personal insult.

Of course...

Mind your own business please and, if you're serious about that Sam & Max Hit the Road request, feel free to create a new thread...

:!:

That got out of hand quickly.

This thread might show that there's a demand for a "Most Wanted Hacks" list. I believe there was one for Racer_S last year.

It would allow our talented dev's to see for which game a hack would benefit the largest number of users.

Devs, users, mods, let me know, and if the demand is indeed there I shall start a new sticky for continued use!

A list would be cool with the most popular games that people want fixed. However you want it to be handled is up to you. I'd just look at the list, see if I own the game, and then spend some time with it. I only do FOV fixes, though, no resolution hacks or anything else. So as long as the game already supports widescreen resolutions, but doesn't scale horizontally, then I might be able to do something about it.

I tend to donate when a more overlooked game I really like is patched or hacked, like Just Cause or Wheelman. I'm sure that goes for others as well.

if any/all of those have something like an in-game zoom of some type, sniper rifle or other wise.

You can probably use that with a generic memory tool like cheat engine,

example, fov is 90 regular and put to 40 for 'zoom effect', once you isolate where that value is, you can set whatever you want.
