How To: Speed up firefox

Post by ViciousXUSMC »

I use IE almost all the time, last time I tried firefox it hated me. But im giving it a second chance.

If you have a faster internet connection (avoid this if your dial up or somthing) I found these tweaks really make things go along faster.

I use Verizon Fios 15mb/s down 2mb/s up for reference.

1.Type “about:configâ€

Well, the only decent browsers that I have are Safari and Firefox of witch I find Firefox the best. Safari does load pages faster though but now that isn't the fact anymore. :P Firefox just became a whole lot better. :P

There is a noticeable speedup for me :D

My broadband connection scored this after mods... speed tests dont change much from these but overall page response and loading does

This wont change your speed test results at all. It has to do with how you connect to a web page.

I ran a speakeasy test earlier today and got 147xx mb/s down and 17xx mb/s up. Thats really close to what I am supposed to get so I cant complane.

I could say i've noticed a difference, but it may just be in me head.
Whether things are actually loading faster I'm not sure, it may be that i'm just paying attention now and counting the seconds.

Most of the sites i go on were instant loaders before anyway. But still, nice tweak and good to have.

Man, I've known about this configuration change for forever, I just thought it was common knowledge by now... Oh well... If you guys want Firefox to open up even faster, look into Firefox Preloader.

Be sure you have the latest version of Firefox 3.6.6. Some of the older versions may have had issues. I did a Google search and only found the postings for upload speed issues from 2009 and back.
