So, I already know how to adjust WCIII to make it run in widescreen mode, but I know the issue with the game is that it stretches the game. But here's what I want to know. Is there a possible way I can change it so the game runs in widescreen mode, but instead of stretching the game, it just puts it back in the normal ratio by putting two black bars on the side? Or would this require some possible undesired hacking and what not?

This solution will only work if you have a DVI cable and are using Forceware drivers. And if you aren't using both, you should.

Go to your nVidia control panel. Go to display->Change flat panel scaling, and set it to "Use NVIDIA scaling with fixed-aspect ratio." Apply.

Then run Warcraft III at a 4:3 resolution (1280x1024 is not 4:3 and therefore not recommended). Your video card will take the 4:3 picture, enlarge it until it fills the vertical length of your screen, and put black bars to the left and right.

It seems everytime I go to the Display options, there's no "Change Flat Panel Scaling" option. Could this be because I might not have a DVI cable (I'm really not sure if I do or not) or something else?

Somewhere in your nVidie panel it should say DVI if you are using it... the option for aspect ratio scaling is pretty obvious, because it has a picture of a monitor and the various options change how the monitor looks.

If you don't have DVI, and I assume you don't since you don't know, you should upgrade.

There is also a bug that scaling don't work for some drivers, don't know which drivers it is, butyou can find it with google.

Just to point that in this case u dont need to run game in widescreen mode, that is 16:10 or alike resolution.

Personally for me W3 looks less streched then setup up to use 16:10 resolution. But then I run it lets say 1024x768 it looks really raelly streched.
