Next:

Now Either:
3x Dell E207WFP refurb for $150ea = $450 (5040x1050) (~$2200 total)
or
3x Dell E1909W refurb for $130ea = $390 (4320x900) (~$2140 total)
or
3x ASUS VW198T new for $120ea = $360 (5040x1050) (~$2110 total)

I am stuck, I like the 20" for size and resolution, I like the ASUS for price and resolution, I like the 19" Dell for control location, and oddly enough the lower resolution. By that I mean I wont be fussin' over getting the higher resolution of the other two working. Dells have the added bennie of Dell 3 year support. (I have had good luck with Dell support)

Any thoughts on these three monitors?


In the near future I am going to add another GTX285 and the Ergotron LX3.

A dell 9200 notebook with 2 gig of ram and an Nvida mobility card, that was good a few years ago when I did LAN parties. But with broadband we just play online. I am wanting "something more" and Surround Gaming looks like my "more".

I figured that if i used the same budget of $2200 I did back then I could shoot for another notebook, or go for a desktop. Since I also own a EEE netbook for mobility why buy a gaming notebook.

A great looking rig.

YOu main concern, IMO, is the space you have to put it in! I have 3x24" and have no problem with space but a lot of people will. Also the larger the scren the more you have to turn your head to look at side screens. Doesn't bother me but some it does.

Anyway enjoy whatever monitors you buy :)

Space is why I am leaning toward the 19/20 inch. 22s I think is pushing it in my space, I cut out 3 cardboard squares at 22 inch size and I am certain they are too big, 19 is a bit closer to what I can do space wise.

I hope to buy this week, I will (Probably) get the parts from newegg, roll with the Win7 beta while I can, I most likely go for the dell monitors. If NewEgg had a better dead pixel policy I would go with them.

I had no end of problems with my ASUS VW198T. They are also end of life, and replacements are not readily available. I'm not going to advocate a particular brand, but I would go for a 1680x1050 panel and find a company that doesn't require you to spend money to send a panel in for repair - even if it's DOA (like ASUS).

My new budget I could swing 3 $150 monitors or the TH2Go but not both. I have settled on spending around $250 on a good 22" monitor that is supported, and buy the other two monitors and TH2Go later.

Sounds good to me. Gaming comfortably in widescreen is essential. You don't rush a TH2G build. :)

I agree. Make sure you get a quality TH2Go build. And, hit the thread on known working monitors. Get one of those from a company that will have the same model on sale for a while.

It took me almost ten months to get all the parts for my TH2GO setup. I waited for sales and got the best price I could find for each item. Take your time and get precisely what you want. It's worth it!

I have started my purchasing, I have started with two Dell E2009WFP($119 ea, new Dell had a special) They seem to be capable of doing 1050@57hz, I will test this out when I get time, as well as do a write up on them for ya'll too.

I also picked up (today) a bfg GTX 285 for $280 (shipped and taxed) from Dell

I am continuing the bargain hunting for the other parts, if I can swing more savings I will eventually be able to afford some more on remaining components. Here is to having the time to pick the deals.
