Alpha Prime DEMO ... and full version ...

This demo keeps messing up for me when i change it to 1680x1050. When i initially did the resolution it just blackscreened and wouldn't do owt. Now when i load it up, it stays on a black screen. If i edit the .cfg file and change it back to a standard res. the game runs fine ..... BAH.

Sounds like it is changing the refresh rate on you ... is there no setting for it in the config ?

Edit: ... I just took a look ... there isn't a setting for the refresh rate ... :(
Try turning off the v-sync ...

I will look at in widescreen tomorrow morning ... off to bed now ...

Naw the games crashing when it switches. For instance when i load the game up on 1680 , the first video screen plays fine, as soon as the menu tries to load it freezes with the cursor in the top right hand corner (custom game cursor). Its still using 50% cpu usage (100% i guess if it supported dual core ;) ) as i type this on my other screen. Seeing if it will do something after a while.

I've tried running it in with Fullscreen 0 and it still crashes ;/

And this is on a completely fresh download / un-zip / reinstall.

I'm running it at 1280x800 now windowed and it's fine. It will do em all cept 1680! boooo

EDIT: I've got it running in 1680. I have to change it after the map is loaded or it crashes ;/ annoyingly weird.

Yea, but when you finish the first map, as soon as it tries to display the loading screen, it freezes again .. .. Only actually In-Game does it run without crashing. Any out-of-engine screens it crashes.

Ive tried every single resolution in the options and they all work perfect except 1680! Ah well no real loss, was just annoying still trying to make it work fine at 2am.

I tried it today 1920x1200 ... no problems at all ...

I am sorry you are having problems ... :(
Another thought ... do you have any skinning programs running ?
... i.e. Windowblinds ... if so that could be the cause of the problems ... ?

Yea i have StyleXP. But it'd be weird for it to make any difference. Especially when its only related to a single resolution, and it doesn't matter if it's windowed or not.
It's only a demo and i'd never heard of the game before so as i said, no real loss, but it's a bit strange.

OK i've gone through the cfg editing it for a custom resolution
1668(and below)x1050 works.
1669(and above)x1050 crashes.

lol well now that i got it working(ish) it's quite good. The graphics are great and run silky smooth on my PC even when the graphics are right pushed up which is unheard of!

oh and on that Underground level the guy sitting on the bench you can run into him and move him wherever you want :lol:

Curious what you did to fix the problem eZ, I'm trying to run it at 1680x1050 and getting the black screen. Every other res works fine.

I think all he did was chang the res to ... 1668x1050 ... in the .... system.cfg ... file.

Aye but it doesn't support those resolutions full screened. I have to play it in a Window. If you try and full screen a custom res, it will revert back to 640x480 default.

Bit of a pain in the ass. Glad I'm not the only one having the problem, must be a bug in the demo for that particular res.

Finished the demo , its too damn short :(
The graphics are pretty damn nice too , and pretty low requirements.
Could run it on max and get smooth gameplay , wheras i play fear on medium and still get jumpy frames

I enjoyed it too and yeah the frame rates are great ... shame there is no AA though.
