F1 Challenge 99-02 SURROUND .cfg file?
Hello,
Great place to be here, now that Matrox has decided to pull the plug on their own forum, since I am the proud owner of a TH2Go and all.
I hve searched through the forum to find a good working .cfg for F1 Challenge 99-02.
The one I already have was from the days that the Matrox forum was still up and running, (I think Paddy the Wak(the real surround guru of the first hour!) provided it, but the aspect is not optimal, since the car is really narrow and the mirrors are dissected by the screen beZels.
I seem to remember that there were issues, in that every car's FOV had to be changed individually or so (I have just recently gotten a renewed interest in this game)
Maybe you Paddy or somebody else can shed a little light on it, and put their optimized .cfg file up.
Thanks a lot !

F1 Challenge 99-02 SURROUND .cfg file?
Hello,
You could be using my settings, because I did post some settings for this game at Matrox Tech Support Forums. I think that it was actually me, who said that we needed different type of camera settings for each car.
This was my settings for Ferrari car in "default.cfg" file:
LocalCam=COCKPIT
{
Fov=(107.000000, 62.500000)
Clear=TRUE
Color=(164, 218, 249)
ClipPlanes=(0.100000, 500.000000)
LODMultiplier=(1.000000)
MipmapLODBias=(-1.500000)
Size=(1.000000, 1.000000)
Center=(0.500000, 0.500000)
Flags1=(0)
Flags2=(0)
RadiusLimits=(0.000000, 0.000000)
OrientationRate=(35.000000, 35.000000, 25.000000)
PositionOffset=(0.000000, 0.20000000, 7.900000) (Left-Right, Up-Down, Back,Forward)
OrientationOffset=(-0.030000, -0.000000, 0.000000)
Radius=(-7.500000)
}

Well, I never had the time or the interest to optimize the camera settings for other cars. It's a shame that the game doesn't really support adjustable FOV like GTR, GTR2 and rFactor, for example. In many ways, these games look very similar to F1 Challenge 99-02.

Hello Paddy! :cheers
F1 Challenge 99-02 SURROUND .cfg file?
Hello, racing sim guru reporting as ordered! :)
Unfortunately I do not have F1C of any flavor. However, I will note that more recent sims based on ISI technology have the option of on-the-fly FOV adjustment in-car, or at the very least in the game GUI. Does F1C have this option. If not, can you move the seat and achieve something acceptable?
The idea is to get the mirrors away from the bezel. In most cars/sims I try to put them just outside on the bezels, on th inside edges of the left and right monitor. Failing that, I put them jsut inside the edges of the center monitor.
This is even easier of you have 6DOF TrackIR.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your replies!
Sorry for my late getback, but I am still working a few days away from home, so no time for the surroundstuf ;-)
I think have indeed your settings Matroxrulez, and a big thank you for that!, I just have to wiggle around a bit with the number I guess to make it even more acceptible for my needs,
However maybe it's time to move up to some more recent drive simulations, as you named a few.
It's still a shame though that the only F1sim is made for the Playstation nowadays...
Once again, thanks for all your inputs, and keep the FOV to the max!
Martin

Yes, it's a shame, but there are some great mods available for rFactor. Like this one, for example:

Exactly. Playstation may have the only official F1 sim, but most of the many rFactor F1 mods are fantastic. rFactor is the place to be for F1 right now. Some of the rFactor F1 stuff is apparently being redone for GTR2 as well, although there are issues with permission and that sort of thing.

Technically you can put them anywhere you want, as you can navigate through the Windows file structure inside rFactor. However, you will make you life easier if they go here:
Program FilesrFactorUserData[player name]Settings[track name]
Program FilesrFactorUserData[player name]Settings[track name]

Hi,
You need to download some cracked .exe files from chr79. This will help to get the triplehead resolutions. I'm not sure about the widescreen resolutions, though.
Thanks, chr79, if you ever happen to read this! :D

F1 Challenge 99-02 SURROUND .cfg file?
I have been messing around with kegetys SOFTTH and trying to get triple head working properly with this game and have got the game running in a widescreen resolution, but with all my trying to get the right camera view right by editing the default.cfg or individual car .veh files cannot correctly create the right picture. I have found out by comparing 4:3 running normally F1 Challenge and then running in a wide resolution it actually just chops off the top and bottom and everything is in the correct aspect.
Here we have correct 4:3 picture 1024x768(pic resized):
Here we have 3072x768(pic resized) pic, as you can see it has a correct aspect ratio but the top and bottom is chopped off.
and here is my attempt to use the position attributes with radius and fov(pic resized)
So as you can see even using the position attribute to move back the driver position still does not increase the vertical attributes. So what we need is a zoom attribute or some sort of hack like there was for stalker which actually zoomed out the picture. If anyone can help me please tell.

I tried these files and still can not get TH2G to work... can anyone post a specific step-by-step instruction?
I tried to edit my default.cfg and that never helped... outside monitors go to sleep when game loads.
Thanks

Hi,
So, if you start cracked 3DConfig program and scroll down the list of resolutions, you can't see any of these resolutions?
1920x480 16 bit
2400x600 16 bit
3072x768 16 bit
1920x480 32 bit
2400x600 32 bit
3072x768 32 bit
Do you have the TH2G Digital or Analog Edition?

That's correct, I can only get to 1680X1050 as the highest resolution.... I copied both the exe and the 3d...exe into my F1C main folder.
The game starts, too.. and runs fine, but no higher resolution than the 1680
Thanks for any help you can offer.

What happens, if you manually change the line VIDEOMODE=xx in Config.ini file?
In my case, the Surround Gaming resolutions will change this attribute like this:
1920x480 16 bit 60Hz --> VIDEOMODE=122
2400x600 16 bit 60Hz --> VIDEOMODE=123
3072x768 16 bit 75Hz --> VIDEOMODE=124
1920x480 32 bit 60Hz --> VIDEOMODE=125
2400x600 32 bit 60Hz --> VIDEOMODE=126
3072x768 32 bit 75Hz --> VIDEOMODE=127
Also, have you tried re-installing drivers for your graphics card?
