Forum thread printing

Post by JohnnyWakko »

Hello to you suggestion box readers.

I have recently tried to print page 4 of this thread:

http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/node/6073

but the size of the page goes over the printed out page and I miss out on about 20% of the right side of the posts. I have tried priting it to PDF first, tried landscape, maxed out the marins, etc but alas I miss out on text on the right of the page.

Is there a way to make the forums printer friendly?

Also, it would be really good to be able to customise how many posts you see on one page. This way I could print a whole thread in one go instead of having to click from page to page.

Your best mate Johnny the Wakko one.

The page width is fixed. You can fit the width to a page wih FireFox or with IE 7 (I think).

I can't think of a way to strip out the formatting. phpBB2 doesn't allow for any user-specific formatting about page length. will check on phpBB3.

phpBB3 has a print thread option. We'll just have to wait for that. :)

There should also be a mod for phpBB2 that allows for plaintext representation of the forums for easier printing. Unless i'm completely mistaken.

There is, and we use one version in our RSS feed for mobile phones. I'm not aware of a mod for phpBB2. Our focus now is one completing the Wiki data entry, and working on a new site skin for the upcoming phpBB3 release.
