Hi, after following the instructions I finally managed to get Pro Evolution Soccer 6 working in widescreen (1280x768). However, I now get slowdown which never happened when I was running it in 800x600 mode.

I was wondering what smaller resolutions I can try, or any tweaks, to reduce the slowdown. I've tried 852x480 but that just crashed the game and I had to re-start. It's not mentioned in my display properties that resultion, so I'm presuming that it means my graphic card can't handle it.

Thanks for any help.

What display are you using? 1280x768 and 852x480, have different aspect ratios so the first thing to do is figure out the aspect ratio of your monitor so you can use resolutions that are appropriate for it.

As for 852x480, many video cards only support horizontal resolutions which are divisible by 8, so that could have been your problem, in which case 848x480 or 856x480 will be the closest can get to a proper 16:9 resolution at 480 lines.

It almost definitely means your *monitor* can't handle it. What is your graphics card? There are ways to hack custom resolutions into your display drivers, but it depends on what your graphics card is.

Huh, that page says:

720i/p HDTV [aka SDTV (S=Super) or EDTV] is 1280 X 720.

which isn't true, SDTV means standard definition, and EDTV could be used to refer to 720i if 720i was ever used for anything, but 720p used commonly and is considered HDTV according both brodcast and display standards all over the world.

Normally I use 1360x768, but games it's 1280x768. I'll go through that list later on today after uni. Thanks for any help.

My graphics card is an ATI Radeon 9600SE, if that helps.

Again, 1366x768 16:9 while 1280x768 is 15:9, where as with most games you need to stick to the aspect ratio of your display or else the images will be distorted. After we figure out what aspect ratio your display is, then I can recomend lower resolutions which you can add to your drivers to get games running smoothly on your older card. So what display are you useing?

Quick Update;

848x480 worked, but it just didn't look nice.
960x540 crashed my computer.

I didn't understand the last one, it was the same aspect ratio as the others.
