I do believe there are some patches to allow the game to run in a higher resolution, and to get effects such as AA and AF working.

However, the background images are all 4:3 bitmaps, and just wouldnt work in 16:9.

There was a link posted a while back with a load of patches for FFVII, i could never get any of them working, but I'll see if i can dig it up...

i know that exist a patch that change resolution to 1280x1024 (posted long time ago..)
but i need a widescreen patch, i hope that anyone will work for a reoslution patch for this masterpiece!

As i just said, the backgrounds are 4:3, and would have to be streched to 16:9 for widescreen - they would look terrible.

The best you can hope for is a modern remake, but maybe that wouldnt be a good idea, especially after some of the latest square games.
