Sorry to beat a dead horse...BF2 again,

Post by marmaduke »

Hi just signed up to these forums. Have a Dell 2407 monitor. Trying to start up in the "widescreen" world. Has anyone ever come up with a definite solution to getting BF2 working in widescreen? 1920x1200?
I have been searching the forums and have found at least 8 pages of discussion from 2005 up to 2007 regarding this situation. Sometimes it works, sometimes it don't.
Game worked with a Viewsonic 19" monitor at 1280x1020 resolution. I upgraded the monitor with the Dell and tried playing last night. All I got was a blank screen then got dumped to desktop at 1920x1200. Tried setting the resolution to 1280x1020. Got a blank screen. Read the readme file about deleting the "profiles" folder. deleted that and set the monitor for for 1280x1020. Worked at that resolution. Haven't tried anything else yet.

Anyone offer any help??

Thanks

Simple answer, no.

I don't know what your trying to do with 1280 x 1020 but that is not a widescreen resolution.
Have you tried running it at 1680 x 1050 or 1280 x 800 with this hack?
Those are normal widescreen resolution. The hack is only vert- though. :(

Oh, and welcome to the WSGF

The problem is that you can get a normal hor+ res but you get kicked by punkbuster when you do so.

Edit: look here for the whole discussion about this: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1079

At the moment, just trying to get it to work.

Don't care about Punkbuster. Playing off line only. Single player mode.

Hi squ1zzy ...
To cut a long story short ...

There is a simple addition to the shortcut for the game that enables widescreen resolutions in the game ....
The problem is this cuts the top and bottom off the view compared with 4:3 ... :( ... we want Hor+ ... i.e. more width FOV.

Racer_S did make a Hack/Tool that enabled alteration of the FOV ... I could even get the correct FOV for TripleHead ... BUT ... Punkbuster would kick you from an online game if you used the Hack/Tool ... :(
The Hack/Tool was never updated as new patches came out because of this Punkbuster issue.

So ... no true fix for the game has been found ... :(

Use the button on the top right of someones message to quote him.
Then it's more clear what and who you are quoting.
Just a tip. :)

You see that it cuts off a massive chunk on the top and the bottom.

I tried it. ??? I set it to 1920x1200 in the Target. BF2 started up and the video option only offered 1600x1200 resolution. Game plays but I really don't know what my resolution is or is supposed to be.
