TH2G with different resolutions
I tell you, if TH2G or even SH2G the software version let me use my widescreen and two 17"'s on the side i would buy it without a seconds hesitation.
What is stopping me from getting it is that if I get 3 17" 4:3 monitors, and TH2G doesnt work with one of the games, then I am stuck on a friggin 4:3 monitor. I don't ever want to game on one of those ever again. not only that, but if the game is hardcore, and I need to tone down the resolyution, then I still want a single widescreen monitor running the thing.
Does anyone share this feeling?
Can we somehow pressure Matrox do get this up and firing?

Or, if you are really into it and have the extra cash . . . you could have a big(ger) screen for the unsupported surround games.
But, yeah, they really need to do some stuff.

Apparently this isn't going to happen any time soon ... :(

Why ? ... I don't know but it must be very difficult to achieve as I think even Matrox would see it as the ideal solution.

Ok here's the other idea.
What if - and I'll get you guys to do the math - a TH2G user thier Widescreen on its end and have a big black bar at the top, and put 17" monitors on the side with the same resolution as the widescreen on its side, ie in portrait but with a section blacked out. THat way you could get the 3x4:3's but stilll have a widescreen in da middle.
Like dis:
How could we get this cranking?

If this would work - it would be awesome...

Ok here's the other idea.Uh, take a closer look at that picture (which I presume is to scale). That's not 3x4:3. The center screen portion looks very close to 1:1, not 4:3.

yes, there is alway somebody who is interested enough to do a quick calculation and find out what turns out.
(i dont have experience with TH2go, so i can only concentrate on physical stuff:)
first, you will need a widescreen (assuming 16:10) with a native resolution of 2048x1280 (which i did not find). that way if you turn it, you will get the TH2go res of 3840x1024. and you really use half of its height.
and second, to have the same size in the middle as on the sides, this screen needs to have a diagonal of:
~ 26" (25,66") for 17" 4:3 peripheral screens
~ 29" (28.679") for 19" 4:3 peripheral screens
...and if you want to use the whole screen in windows, you would have to plug it straight to your system (or switch from VGA to DVI), because TH2go neglects the upper part...
now eather this is already enough to forget the plan, or Paddy (or someone else) will tell you about the (likely) software and configuration problems... :?
but nevertheless: i like the idea :)

...and here's the finishing-move:
a 4:3 panel does not have square pixel (1280/1024 = 3.75:3)!
(=> they are wider than high)
and i bet you will never find a widescreen with pixel that are higher than wide...
(btw: because of that fact, my calculation would need a bit of an adjustment... 8) )

Not instilling much confidence over here Paddy.
Seeing's a 17" is 1280x1024, you would only need (and I think you said something along these lines, but I am not sure I understood) a widescreen monitor that is 1280 high. SURELY there is a Widescreen monitor that is that high so you could turn it on its side.
Perhaps not. Anyone? How tall is 15"s?
1024x768 Now there would HAVE to be a widescreen with 1024 high! Mine is 1050 high, couldn't I just squash resolution

You also have to consider how you would
1. Get the center image to rotate.
2. Get the center image to move to one side of the monitor.
3. Get the center image to not stretch.
As far as I know you can't do 1 and 3 with a TripleHead2Go and you can't do 2 at all.

1. Some vid cards let you rotate image
2. We have often seen black bards on the edge of screens, perhaps the widescreen monitor can have two black edges, one the bottom one the top to make up the corrent resolution
3. Hmmmm, yes.
ITS GOTTA WORK SOMEHOW COME ONE! Where is Squizzy?!

For the same reasons why there isn't a DVI in version of the TH2G this won't be humored. It's too specialized to be mass produced. They're targeting the largest cross section of users with thier product. To deviate from that means less sales.

i just realized that the 4:3 TFT screens are really 5:4. i dont know why it is common to call them 4:3, but if you measure the sides, it turns out to be 5:4, just like the pixel ratio. so dont worry about the nonsqare pixel anymore. it seems that at least this problem could be solved with the correct widescreen resolution. :D

1. Some vid cards let you rotate imageYes on one monitor. Not on some strange central percentage of one monitor. Remember, as far as your video card is concerned, when you have a TripleHead2Go you don't have 3 monitors, you have one.
I hate to be pessimistic and discourage innovation, but there are way too many reasons why this wouldn't work.

Points taken, but hope is not yet forsaken.
