Widescreen support in new games? Very frustrated...

Post by zak88lx »

I'm getting so frustrated with the software gaming companies.
I was under the impression that new games would offer both fullscreen and widescreen modes but today I bought 3 new games and none of them support widescreen.

Ideally all new games would support both fullscreen and widescreen but until that happens they should at least state the supported modes on the box.
If new PC games were like DVD's and had fullscreen or widescreen clearly stated on the package I wouldn't mind so much.
Without this information it's a mystery until you open and install the game.

Sorry for the rant.

We're trying to get the industry to change. What games did you get?

What's really strange is when cross-platform games who natively are widescreen on xbox360 for example doesn't support it on PC.

I think widescreen support will be much better this year because of the "Games for Windows" initiative since games has to support it to be certified.

I don't certain things just annoy me, Widescreen or the idea has been around for a long time, if you choose to ignore it...okay, fine, but if an engine itself cannot support it, the engine is crap.

Lets not even mention EA.

All the more reason I am happy about having a monitor that supports scaling itself. While getting to a point that there is not stretching or cutting off would be ideal, at least I get to use the full screen in the meantime.

*bites his tongue*

The lack of 5.1 Surround sound is another one that annoys me. :x

Having an optical mouse must also be cheating! There might be people who still use ball mice with two buttons and no scroll wheel, and we can't be unfair to them, now can we?

 8)

Yeah, I think we covered this.

In order to make the world fair for all the teenage 'widescreen is cheating' BF2ers', you need to make sure they're all running the same system.

Why didn't EA just release it on the Dreamcast and have done with it? (I say Dreamcast because it's the earliest console with an internet connection by default...)
