Matrox GXM mostly useless?

Post by Pantsbandit »

When I start almost any game the screen goes black and a "gxm" logo appears, then after a few seconds all of this crashes back to desktop, the game just crashes.

However I then figured if I just exit the dumb gxm program altogether the games launch fine, I can go into the settings and set 3840x1024 and it all works great. I'm wondering what's the point of GXM then? I'm using the latest one from the site... is there another more reliable version out?

Without GXM there is no bezel management...

I have found that you can install GXM, turn on bezel management, and then uninstall the program. It seems to make a setting in the firmware of the DTH2Go.

Well, sure. This is the same thing that happens when GXM crashes due to poor coding and bezel management is on: it stays on.

But a 2D desktop is useless with bezel management on - scrollbars on maximized windows hide behind the bezels.

Since I only use my PC for gaming, it's not an issue for me. My "utility" machine is my Mac Pro hooked up to the 30"
