RE:"So I would say no it does not have a FPS element ... "

OH!! - the let down - the deceit !!

The shattered dreams :(

The lament of what this could have been...

Don't worry - I will recover......... eventually - someday....

For those of you playing this right now, how does it faire with widescreen resolutions? Smooth play, or a little slow now and then?

BTW when i installed i saw a notice "you have dual core ... there are issues"

You mean SLI, right? If so, the patch just got released, as Paddy mentioned.

It fairs like you'd expect any game new game to run at high resolution. If you run into a GPU bottleneck, the game scales down fairly well, but I really hope you don't have to do this, at least for the terrain and model textures. But if you have to, the game will run smooth and you can still enjoy the great gameplay. For instance, when running in triplehead, even with just a 7800 I can just drop down the features and it runs fine. But instead I just opt to run in 1280 until I get things figured out.

Great game, highly recommend it (You too, North).

EDIT: As far as framerates go, the game is more than playable at 30+ fps, imo. Try the demo to get an idea of performance, tho the full game may run a tad slower, keep in mind. You can always "try before you buy" of course...

Dual core isn't the same thing as SLI ... Dual core is to do with your CPU.

The "- SLI performance bug fixed" from the patch info should help with the performance on SLI systems and not necessarily Dual Core systems.

but the " - Multithreaded lens-flare destruction fix" from the patch info maybe the fix for the "you have dual core ... there are issues" message Violent Ken got when he installed.

I have to say it's one of the best RTS I've ever played.. I'm in the middle of the campaign right now and it's fun as hell.

I have the full game and played it both before and after the second patch on my system. At 1920x1200 native res it was a little sluggish, even with the physics turned down a little bit, before the patch. After the patch I am running full every setting at 1920x1200 and it runs verrrrrryyyyyyy smooth. The patch helped dramatically.

Fun game.

I hope so, I left it downloading today - got home from work and immediately installed...

Launched the game straight after install and attempted the performance test expecting a good result, but what did I get - 10fps!!!

I mean WTF! :? Is that some joke.. Especially since some of the performace test graphics look pre RTCW!

Still, I'll grab the patch and see if that helps :P

:x Well that Sucks!!

Because I installed the demo into:
D:Game FilesDemosCompany of Heroes

rather than:
C:Program Files etc etc Company of Heroes

The goddamn patch can't find it... Poop!

Looks like an uninstall/reinstall for me then...

Sorry about the troubles, but the patch, for the full game, made a huge performance difference for me.

So is there any SLI fix for the demo? I get a horrific 3fps at 1920x1200 max settings and dropping things doesn't really help. :(

The game does look very sweet though.

Wish I knew - I played it at a stretched 1280x1024 last night and although the game is brilliant (ended up playing till 2am this morning  ), I really would like it to run better - I don't exactly have a decrepid system just yet!

Just got around to playing the demo... this game is GREAT! Possibly as good as Dawn of War, but easier to learn since it's not as futuristic.

Anyone played this multiplayer? Is it as good as DoW?

There's a videocard roundup out there on Techspot, but they neglect to test any dual-gpu solutions, so no SLI of any kind and no Crossfire either. In fact, they don't even test the X1950XTX!

Does anybody know if there's a site that has maybe used CoH to benchmark the X1950XTX versus the other current high end videocards?

Or even better yet, maybe some performance numbers on a high end Crossfire or SLI system?

Well I received my copy and what can I say apart from... THIS ROCKS! :w00t

I instqalled the game and then the v1.20 patch and the difference in performance I get compared to the Demo is amazing - I'm now cranked back upto 1920x1200 with details, models etc set up and it is perfectly playable.

Going through the game's single player now so that it gives me the oppurtunity to work out how to use the controls well - before I get mullered in some online games with friends.

Has anyone else been playing it - what do ya think?!?

I got my copy yesterday but didn't have much time to play it (birthday and stuff :))
But the things i did play are awesome. :P

The best thing of the game is that it forces you to use all kinds of tactics to win.
If you just go head on with a group of soldiers to defeat some dug in Germans you are almost certainly going to loose.
So you really have to outmaneuvere them which is really cool.

And offcourse the realism, i once shot some artilary onto a group of germans and the bodys flew everywhere. :D

i' ve been beaten 5 times in multiplayer online in 1x1 and 2x2, so far not so good :-)) you must play offensive (tank company) and that is not my favourite style. I prefer defesive game

Did you notice, that Supreme Commander will be from THQ as well? I know it is not Relic, it is just distibution channel, lke EA is, but THQ is gonna kick some ass anyway. EA will have Crysis though.
