Post by brogs »

I could use some help guys... i m running triplehead so why would i need widescreen ? i m getting plenty of wide veiwing... plus widescreens odd resolution although widescreen lcd s bezels tend to be narrow....with normal screens i could run right resolution for triplehead and get a more top to bottom screen size if that make sense....i do alot of sim racing {papy} if that matters....thanks for replies

The TH2Go now supports 1280x720 and 1280x768 times three. My recommendation (and what I plan to do) is get 3x Dell 2007WFP. That way I can do Widescreen Surround for those games that support it, and do 1680x1050 widescreen for those that don't. Fewer games support Surround than support widescreen, so I wanted to give myself that fallback.

thanks for info...i really want to go widescreen but i ll have to drop resolution to 1280 x 768 x 3 ..the higher the resolution the more vivid and crisp the display especially in nascar racing 2k3....it s just hard to go down when your used to the sim in a certain way..was running it at 1600x1200 with 1 screen{ looked awesome} then got th2go and had to run it at 2400x600 { ati card} it wasn t great but doable.....now i have 7900 gt and run at top top resolution and it looks great.... i m kinda spoiled now.....

Paddy was running a Quad SLI (7900-based) system and was running 3840x1024, on 1600x1200 monitors and didn't find the stretch to be too bad. A lot of it is based on taste/preference, but getting closer to the native panel size would be helpful.

I still am ... when I get a chance ... :D
I use 3 x Dell 20" ... they scale the res up very well indeed.

I have another system see specs ... it has 3 x Dell 24" ... BUT ... I can't get the TH2G to work properly in games ... :( ... AND I don't think 3 x 1280x768 looks very good ... :(
1440x900 or 1280x800 look far more acceptable .. but these x 3 aren't available with the TH2G.
For now I use them with 3 x 1920x1200 in non SLI for my work. Only switching to SLI and one screen to play games that don't do TripleHead (on Quad system) but do Widescreen.

I'm wondering how 1 center(Westinghouse LVM 37w3) 37"inch wide screen
and 2 side 24"(Dell 2405)flipped verticaly would work with triplehead2G

Anyone have an idea if the screens would sync up properly?

Am fairly certain you cannot rotate displays in TH2G. The adaptor works by splitting a single horizontal scan across 3 screens. There would need to be even more conversions taking place to get your idea to work.

It's something that someone really should do, but not very feasible right now (for games). With regular SLI its quite possible as you can rotate displays from within the control panel.

Thats a nice monitor. Just be aware that the'll have to upsample the 3x1280x1024 to 3x1600x1200. They'll be good for future proofing, if Matrox ever releases a TH2G in that res, but the results might not look pretty. Another thing to note is that it'll be going from 5:4 to 4:3, so the image will also get stretched horz slightly.

If at all possible see what 1280x1024 looks like on that monitor.

And finally, one more thing - that mon is focused on color rendering over response time, so your bwb is going to be in the 12-16ms range. But many people play here with that and have no complaints.

The BenQ FP93GX had the smallest bezels on the market when I bought them (13mm). But it's tough to find the bezel size of a monitor.

If your just looking for a full Nascar experience at native res, then 19" LCDs are probably what you want.

Honestly, if I had to do it all over again I'd go with the FP93GX's in a heartbeat. Esp. for triplehead bc of the bezels. I don't have a single complaint. After rebate, you get get them for $210 right now. With the extra cash, you could get the Ergotron LCD mount. Here's a cheap distributer's.

So that's my recomendation, but I'm a little biased :) The best thing to do is just do a bit of research, sort out your priorities, then go with what you feel the most comfortable with.
