Madden 2007 ???

Post by bromanzier »

Most likely an obvious answer given EA's past support for widescreen... but has anyone heard if Madden 2007 will support widescreen resolutions?

I don't get why they can't include some widescreen resolutions. I mean the 360 version of course has widescreen. Does the regular xbox version have it, what with 480p support?

The 360 has the new game engine though. We are stuck with this 3 year-old one. It's time they give us PCers the next gen engine as well.

Doesn't it even have 1600 x 900? Last year's version had that, at least...

Someone stated on the EA boards to edit the madden.ini in your my documents/madden 07 Directory, which I did, and it didn't seem to work, kept bumping back to 800x600 :(

First I tried 1680x1050 (Which was dumb, the parameters in the ini max at 1600) and then I proceded to try the rest of the lower 16:10 Resolutions to no effect other than frustration..

What I ended up doing last year was running 1400x1050 so at least I got a 4:3 screen using all the vertical on my 1680x1050. Hopefully you can still do that…I had to add that custom resolution in the nVidia control panel 1st tho (then edit the madden.ini), not sure what needs to be done for ATI folks

I installed it this morning and this option was available for me. It also didn't look near as stretched as last years Madden.

I'll give it another go when I get home from work just to make sure I wasn't seeing things.

Any updates? Anyone able to find a solution? I'm tempted to get the game but lack of widescreen is making me hold back.

I checked again last night, and sure enough I was running at 1600x900. I didn't however compare it with a standard 4:3 resolution to see if it was stretching the image. If I have time tonight I will try and do this, and perhaps provide some screenshots.

That's lame, although I'm pretty sure that you will see just as much with the 4:3 resolutions sense the widescreen option is very much stretched horizontally.

I suppose I should have added that I'm using a Dell 2407.

How did you get that 1600x1200 resolution?

I tried all types of different scaling settings with my nvidia control panel and tried changing the resolutions with the madden07.ini file or whatever it is but had no luck. I was at least able to get the game to not reset to 800x600 when i put in a 1440x900 resolution but it still stretched the image, just with black bars around all sides instead of full screen. So it really wasn't 1440x900 since that should have been a 16:10 ratio. It basically looked the same as 1600x900. Very

The 1600x900 is obviously stretched. No widescreen support = No Buy.

yeah it does look horrible stretched, only way i can play widescreen without stretch is to play it on my bravia with a custom res of 1360x768 in the madden.ini, then its not stretced. i really dont understand ea at all.

No Widescreen support for Madden 07

Post by buzznjackal »

This is dissapointing, I just got the game and don't even feel like playing it. I saw it on the XBOX 360 and it looked really nice on flat widescreen. But on my computer with 1440x900 monitor it doesn't even look half as good. I'm offered highest resolution of 1152x864 and I dont think it looks good at all. I really wish they would have offered widescreen for this game.

I wouldn't compare the game directly to that of the 360, it is a completely different game engine. EA Sports apparently felt that it would be best to hold off on releasing the "next-gen" games for the PC until the 08 titles.
