Wow, that looks very cool. Why the free download though? What's the agenda? Are we talking "Enemy territory" free?

yep free...it will take forever to download it since no one is torrenting it and everyone is just getting it from a server...expect 3 hour download time.

Does that mean I could download this, without owning the real game, and play it online?

I'm betting the game will not be too good multiplayer. Compared to games that are designed for ONLINE ACTION, ie: UT2004; BF2; and Counter Strike games that have not been soley designed around multiplayer are not that good I think. Its thier net coding and multiplayer playability that let them down in my opinion. Take Far Cry for examlpe, great game, mediocre multiplayer, DOOM3 similar boat.

So why would i stop playing BF2 and UT2004 for FEAR. IT probably won't even run on my friggin maching.

Bring UT2007 on I say, oh, and Quake Wars too.

Yes it is a complete stand alone client. The quality is really what one expects from a single player designed game that has multiplayer.

Uh why? I downloaded it from GameSpot yesterday and it took around 40 minutes.... If I was at college yesterday it would have taken like 4 minutes. The file's only about 1.8 GB.

That sucks.

I got a key within a minute after filling out the info.
Any chance it got caught in a spamfilter?

And the game worked fine after first download. To bad it is one big file and not small rars which forces you to download 1.8gb over and over again :?. (thinking BT protocol)

Vector : you really should download the torrent. If a piece is corrupted the torrent client will re-download ONLY the affected piece. It's a beautiful thing. 8)

For those who own the full version of FEAR, this is a waste -- it's only the multiplayer component on its own. But this is pretty good. I played FEAR 1.0 multiplayer and it was crap -- there werent many maps, there was only deathmatch, and the netcode buggy = laaaaaag. This is polished up significantly.

It was a Great idea to release this for free; those who own the game no longer have to join idle servers and wait for other players. :) And the best part - lots of n00bs!!!

btw, this game looks ballastic at 1920x1200 with everything set to high. Credit to the 7950GX2 for making that kind of artistic beauty possible. ;)

Is anyone up for meeting up in a server tonight, or making a hamachi network?
