Driver updated, games messed ...

Post by karayo »

Hello. I'm glad I found this forum, and I hope you guys can help me with my problem ...

I have the Intel 945GM graphics (integrated, 224MB shared) for Windows Vista. My laptop (HP dv6150us) has widescreen. My screen resolution is set to 1280 by 800 since I got this laptop.

Now the problem: I have Rise of Nations and Halo 1, both which I play a lot. For example, Halo is in 800x600 resolution, and when I opened it, the game would automatically stretch the image to the whole screen. In Rise of Nations, the set up is 1024x768x32, and it happened the same that with Halo: the screen was completly stretched. It looked nice that way.

Today, I decided to update my drivers to the version 7.14.10.1329 (the lastest), and I did it ... boy do I regret now. The games look like centered, like in their real resolution. I mean, they don't get stretched anymore. :(

I could put the 1280 by 800 to Halo, but it was slow as hell, barely playable. I tried to roll back the driver, but the option is unchooseable. I also tried to do a System Restore, but the PC restarted and said that there was an error and the restore could not be completed.

Please, I'm begging ... does anyone knows how to tell my video card to stretch the games again? If you want any extra info to help, I'll be checking this thread (a lot! lol).

Thanks, and greetings from Dominican Republic.

Sorry for the double post, but here is an image explanation of what I'm trying to say:

Do you see? Before I used the whole screen on a lower resolution, but now that lower resolution is in its "normal" size.

Somebody please help me ...

EDIT: BTW, I'm sorry if the answer is somewhere around here, I have looked around but haven't seen anything yet. Maybe because I'm desperate ...

I'd like to know how ... I don't have the option to "roll back" the driver. And the oldest version I found, I installed it, but the problem is in yet. I had an older version of the one I found.

Don't you have an option (display properties) to change the aspect scaling? If you do (you should) change it.

No, I don't have that option anywhere. :(
In fact, in the "aspect ratio" option, it is on "full screen (no borders)"... and even like that it doesn't work.
