How to add more standard widescreen resolutions?

Post by Nazgul9 »

My (latest) Forceware (for WinXP) only allows for 1650x1050 and 1600x900 under "screen resolutions" but i'd also want lower resolutions, like 1280x800, so that these would become available in game options, because my 7800GT isn't fast enough for every game to run at 1650x1050. How can i do that? Would appreciate any help...

Even GAMES don't allow/display lower resolutions? Odd...

Most games' resolutions can be changed manually, by editing .ini, .cfg, or other config files.

If you use a secondary monitor or television make sure it's not being 'cloned' to your primary.

Or try going back a driver version. The latest aren't always the best for a paricular video card.

Oh and i guess the make/model of your monitor would help, too :>

I'm sure there are games which are "doing their own thing" but i was talking about such that get their resolutions by asking the gfx drivers (of which there are many, for example Supreme Commander, Neverwinter Nights 2, The Lord of the Rings Online etc). I find it odd that there are a plethora of 4:3 resolutions available, but only one 16:10 (and one 16:9)...

Yes, i have also a tv connected but i have it on single display when it is not used.

I really don't wanna go back to an earlier driver version. Also, i'm not even sure if that will give me more options (never tried older versions on my new monitor, which btw is a Samsung 226BW).
