BF2 Please Help

Post by nathan4823 »

hey, i am new the forum and im having some problems getting bf2 to run on my widescreen. i recently switched from regular lcd to a widescreen hd samsung with a dvi d input and a max resolution of 1280x720. i have have any specific monitor drivers so the system views the screen as a plug and play monitor. anyway, when i attempted to alter the shortcut target by adding the new screen size parameters, the bf2 splash screen pops up, the screen blinks, goes black then drops me back into windows. any idea what im doing wrong here? XP seems to function fine in 1280x720. i cant figure out what im doing wrong. please give me some advice.

hi there

unfortunately bf2 won`t support widescreen resolutions

you can play with a cut of 4:3 resolution by using this nice tool

http://grs.miniinfo.net

have fun (and write dice a mail, tell em ,like we all did, how you feel about playing a up to date game without widescreen support  )

How much of the screen is missing when I use this application?
Just an insignificant fraction or do I lose my radar and health bars etc?
Is it still playable in cutoff 4:3?

I'm experiencing the same issues with my 1280x720 HD LCD tv, despite applying the shortcut trick as the poster explains in the BF2 solution thread.

It runs at 800x600, a 4:3 ratio fine, but won't run the only other supported native res 1280x720, which happens to be widescreen. 800x600 isn't horrible, but aint ideal either... not when you have much more available.

Did you use the word "widescreen" when you were applying the shortcut trick? When I was trying to get BF2 in widescreen I was using the word "fullscreen" on 1920x1080 which is a widescreen resolution and I got the infamous black screen/crash to desktop. When I changed it to "widescreen" it worked perfectly. None of the stuff was cut off the screen or anything. Let me tell you, my 7800GT running BF2 in 1920x1080 on a 55" plasma looks absolutely gorgeous.
