Ace Combat 7 no Ultrawide (Fix !!)

Post by neyshinoda15 »

Just downloaded Ace Combat 7 from Steam and it only works in 16:9 even though it recognizes my 3440x1440 resolution. I tried hex editing the EXE file but it didn't work.

Many thanks!

- Edit 1 : Here, Ultrawide Fix and Draw Distance Form susahamat,Winkelmann , Thanks !!

Not sure if that is what they did but what worked for me is replacing "3B 8E E3 3F" with the hex of your choice from here: http://www.wsgf.org/article/common-hex-values

Bugs include zoomed in menus (only certain ones) seeing glitchy stuff on the sides sometimes and the shifted HUD.

You can also in addition to that replace the usual 16:9 hex with one of your choice, this changes some more stuff but brings no fix for the hud.

Edit: BTW that hex is from the fix used for Tekken 7

Edit 2: The markers that are attached to stuff like enemy aircraft behave correctly so we should only need to recenter the main HUD.

susahamat wrote:its possible to increase Draw Distance to reduce pop-in via engine.ini,

    r.SkeletalMeshLODBias=-2
    r.StaticMeshLODDistanceScale=0.25

Copy and replace engine.ini, download here
Increase_Drawdistance.7z

can be lowered or increased. A value around 3-5 is recommended to minimize visible pop-in. r.ViewDistanceScale=1 is the default. May have a substantial performance impact depending on your hardware.

I am also very interested in a quality fix for this one. Talk about a game begging for ultrawide and triple wide support.

Will donate.

Have you checked if the INI config file has anything related to either the aspect ratio or the position of the HUD?

In time: please upload your initial fix.

Thanks for your time.

Not him but I messed around as well with it. Config is at ". . . \AppData\Local\BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment\ACE COMBAT 7\Config\GameUserSettings.ini" I don't believe you can fix it in there, they use some different method inside the game, presumably the same method as with Tekken 7 although I have never compared the two as I don't have Tekken (I only know that the black bar removal hex from it works here as well).

Regarding how to get it now: You really don't need a compete edited exe because it is relatively straight forward as I described in my previous comment, just use HxD and replace the values, it isn't ready for "end users" anyway due to menu zoom bug covering up control hints and the shifted hud.

Hey, so I just made an account to post here. I went through and edited the EXE file to change all of the "3B 8E E3 3F" strings with "8E E3 18 40." I also went through to find the uses of "39 8E E3 3F" and replaced those as well. Unfortunately, this isn't yet a workable solution, as (outside of the HUD not centering, which I'm sure someone will find a workaround for) rather than adding extra content to the sides of the screen, it simply crops everything on the top and bottom and then zooms in. So with this edit, you are actually seeing less of the game than normal 16:9. Hopefully someone with more knowledge than me can figure out how to fix this.

Huh, yeah you are correct. I didn't watch for the FOV but now that you mention it in susahamat's screenshot the FOV did increase and the fix I found does not.

@susahamat would you mind releasing the hex values that you messed with, it would be a great help so more people can try solving the HUD issues.

Could you please tell us the hex values you changed or release a cheat engine table? Some people do not feel comfortable running random executables.

Edit: especially since it's packed with UPX which really doesn't help with shadyness.

Edit 2: It also can't be unpacked, probably because a crazy old version was used to pack it. (https://www.hybrid-analysis.com/sample/ ... 3763229a16)

"UPX 0.72" apparently. Correction: Or UPX v1.72, still really old.

I understand releasing patchers so people can easily do it without much hex editing knowledge but please do not just publish some executable that which utilizes techniques to hide its content when all it does is replace some hex values.

@susahamat

Thank you, I just confirmed that the method you described works perfectly when doing it manually for 3440x1440.

Any list of supported values anywhere? Trying to set up 3x16:9. These look different than the values listed above so not sure.

Thank you guys for making such widescreen fixes. I have triple screens (3x16:9) but I have corrected bezels, so my resolution is 5980x1080. I downloaded the 32:9-file in the opening post of this thread. It kinda works (thank you for that!) but I don't have a clue if this is exactly made for my resolution. I think not. Unfortunately I don't know how I could adapt this to my resolution of 5980x1080. Would I have to use the upper HxD file and enter some hexa-values? But I don't know what's the hexa-value for my resolution...
Could anyone help me pleas? And what would happen if I would type in hexa-values for my exact resolution? At the moment the mission-briefings are fine (only displaying in 16:9 on middle monitor) but in the cinematics and in the replays for example the picture is cut off on the edges above and at the bottom so I'm missing some picture infos. This is not so good because some infos (which button should I press...) is normally displayed on the bottom edge which is missing.
I hope you know what I mean. Would be nice if someone could help me out a bit... Thank you so much in advance...
