It's insanely heavy, as turning off TAA (or just looking at the title screen) reveals. I'm certain the community could find a better balance for image quality if we could just get the base visuals without that effect.

Apply this patch to re2.exe
re2_disable_sharpening.7z

or using Hex-editor replace the following bytes in re2.exe:
80 BB FD 00 00 00 00 48 8B F8 74 05 => 80 BB FD 00 00 00 00 48 8B F8 74 00

vignette removal does not work =(

problem with the release version of the game
and is it possible to remove the black bars at least in some of the cutscenes are on the engine ? some cutscenes are made on the engine and it is noticeable when switching from cutscene to the game.

FD FF A7 3F 00 00 00 00 => FD FF A7 40 00 00 00 00

the resolution patch is still working

UPD
Apply patch to re2.exe

re2_release_v1.7z

Unlocked FOV for aspect ratio higher 21:9
Black bars removed from cut-scenes
Black bars removed for aspect ratio below 16:9

re2_release_disable_vignette.7z

re2_release_disable_sharpening.7z

@jackfuste thank you so much for this fix!

I didn't even notice the vignette. I was never a fan of it, even with The Witcher 2. Always off.

To clarify, is there a working vignette removal?

Actually, there is.

Code: Select all

Disable vignette
Open Program HxD > Click File and Open re2.exe
Ctrl+F > Click "Hex Values" > Click Search Direction "All" > Write 8B 87 3C 01 00 00 89 83 DC 00 00 00
Replace Value With 31 C0 90 90 90 90 89 83 DC 00 00 00

Although it removes the vignette, it still causes problems with gray areas.

Stepping in to drop a note about the DR here. We are in the middle of merging 32:9 support as be as we can into the site. Our current solution is to include it with 21:9, since both aspects are similar and it is a single monitor solution. We look at the support holistically between the two aspects. Just like we do when considering both 16:9 and 16:10 for widescreen.

Please note that for a game to get a Gold certification, it needs perfect support across all aspects of the game - in all resolutions. And, cutscenes are taken into account. This means that if a game is Vert- in 16:10, it gets Silver. If there are issues with some aspects of some MM configurations, but not all, it probably gets a Silver.

Given the perfect support for 21:9, and the Limited support for 32:9, that averages to a Silver. Silver isn't bad. It's just not perfect. It simply indicates to a user they should check the details before purchasing. I realize our solution for integrating 32:9 support into the site isn't perfect. But adding a 5th category and medal aren't feasible at this time, for a number of reasons.

No news on a new 16:10 patch aspect ratio fixer for the game? Really need that, playing the game with those black bars is rather annoying.

Hello!

I signed up for these forums to ask what's the current best fix to remove vignetting in the game. I don't have an ultra-wide display and I also don't use ReShade, so those aren't a concern.

I used the hex editor fix when the game first launched, but that broke lighting/shadows in some scenes. Since I haven't played the game in a while and there have been some updates, what's the recommended solution now?

Thanks in advance!

I am with you man. Us 16:10 users seem to be forgotten, no one cares to help us out and any response I get is "just buy a new monitor." most devs dont even bother with it at all. I sent a PM to Jackfuste who made the original patch but haven't heard back. :(
