I've tried the command line multiple times:

C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode1680,1050,60

no dice, it keeps saying it can't find it...but if I remove the extra command line, Halo starts right up...what's the deal?

That should be ...

C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode 1680,1050,60

not ...

C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode1680,1050,60

Also ... from the solution thread ...

EDIT : some more info for you ... I just reinstalled to double check things worked ... :D

Get patch 1.6 from here ... http://www.fileplanet.com/130978/download/Halo-v1.00---v1.06-Patch
If you let the game auto update then it will update to 1.07 and the FOV hack won't work.

Here are some screenshots ...
Click to enlarge ... even when enlarged they are not full size.

Normal 4x3 ...

16:9 ... with FOV hack you can alter the FOV to whatever you like ... it only works with version 1.0 to 1.06 ... get it here ... http://toca.game-editing.net/files

how do make the command line work ?
every time I try to change the line its self.
I get
a Problem with Shortcut "C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe-vidmode 2400,600,60
does not work or I get this with
"C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode 2400,600,60
or with
C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode 2400,600,60
or with
C:Program FilesMicrosoft GamesHaloHalo.exe -vidmode2400,600,60
Problem with shortcut the name 'C:Program' specified in the Target box is not
valid.Make sure the path and file name are correct
