I have my 21:9 LG set up on a telescoping arm that also has a built-in 90-degree swivel, that allows for portrait configurations of the monitor. Something that dawned on me last night was that a vertical shooter would be insane on it! I promptly loaded up Raiden IV: Overkill and set it up as best as I could, but of course it only allowed for 9:16.
Anyone know of any vertical shooters that could actually use the extra space of a 21:9 in a vertical (9:21) configuration? I'm about to pickup Ikaruga via the steam winter sale, regardless, but searching these forums, I couldn't seem to find anything that may answer my question.
Any 9:21 SHUMPs?

The problem is most vertical scrollers seem to have fixed proportions; the action takes place in a 3:4 rectangle no matter what. The first thing to do would be to find a truly full-frame shmup, so that changing the display's aspect ratio would also impact the game's...

Yep, I definitely understand. At some point, I'm sure someone will make a vertical 9:21 game. It'll be a slick experience, once it's reality!

Games in the database that are described as "Vert-" should give you what you want. A while back some folks started cataloging games that played in "tallscreen".
