Can someone help me get this game running at 1600x1200? I don't get this hex stuff, and no other site on the internet talks about custom resolutions.

Old games are complicated to edit the field of vision to use a widescreen resolution, the solution is almost always Vert -

But 1600x1200 should not be hard to obtain with a hex editor, why not try? try changing the resolution "640x480" to "1600x1200" with a hex editor, a resolution "4:3" for a resolution "4:3" can go right, hex basic concepts you find here: http://www.widescreengamingforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=18809
A great hex editor you will find here: http://www.chmaas.handshake.de/delphi/freeware/xvi32/xvi32.htm
Do not forget to backup your sonic.exe before trying, doing so requires patience, and this method may not work for the desired resolution, I wish you good luck!

So this thread pops up first when you google "Sonic Adventure DX wsgf" but none of the posts here helped me at all, so, I'm resurrecting a decade old thread to present this:

http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/f ... =299808681

BetterSADX 3.5 mods your Steam install of Sonic Adventure DX, adds widescreen support for any resolution, plus additional advanced features, mods, and hacks that all around make Sonic Adventure DX on Steam a million times better.

Simply install, run the game through steam like normal, and select config to laucnh the new custom config tool to adjust all your options.

More details and better instructions are available at the link.

Your welcome.

Yeah well, the solution I provided as I've been 12 years old was to modify the resolution that is used by the game.
Depending on which size of the HUD you wanted to have, you had to modify a different one (pretty much the same as in KOTOR). However this resulted in bugs like people disappearing etc.
I had no clue about Assembly back then (at least not enough) to fix this (e.g placement of the HUD elements, fixing FOV etc. although I tried to calculate the current FOV so I could change it).
Plus this thread is not about the Steam version, but the retail one. It might also be that the position where the resolution is stored inside the EXE is changed. I've heard there are major differences in the way the Steam version and the Retail version operate. And as far as I know BetterSADX is not available for the retail version of SADX.
So all in all I still only know about this way to actually get the Retail version into a higher resolution.
