I have additional steps for a more controlled FOV. In my view it's an improvement over using just MaintainYFOV, but it's strangely flawed at the same time. Do with that what you will.

4. Now edit %USERPROFILE%\Documents\my games\Shadow Complex\EmpireGame\Config\EmpireInput.ini
5. Search the line: CommandMappings=(Name="GBA_Duck",Command="ToggleDuck true | onrelease ToggleDuck false")
6. Change ToggleDuck false)" to ToggleDuck false | FOV 46.69)"
7. Save your changes and close the file.
8. In the game, pressing "crouch" once will fix the FOV.

VFOV 46.69 is the right value for Hor+ gameplay in all aspect ratios. However comparisons show that beyond 16:9, the fixed FOV alters both the picture's aspect and the camera's position, albeit very slightly.
And because there's no end to the fun with Unreal Engine... the cinematics have a slightly higher default VFOV: 58.72.

Thanks for reading, and thank you FOVCalc.
