AMD Eyefinity PLP: Portrait - Landscape - Portrait

Post by skipclarke »

In this video I take a look at how to set up PLP with 3x 1080p widescreen panels, using the AMD Catalyst 15.4 Beta Driver. I also look at how different games perform at the 4080x1080 PLP resolution.

If you'd like more information about PLP - particularly implementing outside of the R9 285, please check out the blog series by WSGF member Imurst. A great place to start is his PLP Guide.

Many thanks to Club 3D for providing the R9 285 royalQueen GPU for this testing. Please check out their product page here.

Video details are as follows:

0:00 Start
0:50 Setup
2:00 Fit vs Expand
3:00 Guild Wars 2
5:23 Torchlight II
7:45 Lego Marvel
9:40 Sniper Elite III
11:33 Rayman Origins
13:40 Unigine Heaven Benchmark
14:35 Unigine Valley Benchmark
15:39 Bioshock Infinite

Nice Video.

What i'm missing is the Setup Part. How do you set the hight of the side Monitors? how does AMD CCC knows where to put the picture and where to put black bars?
We gonna send it to outa space!

This is covered briefly at the start. Display position and rotation are set in the Windows display settings; the Catalyst Control Center inherits those settings when making the Eyefinity group.

^^ What he said. I skipped over the alignment bits when you set up the Eyefinity grouping. It works the same way as if you have mixed res or mixed aspect monitors.

As skipclarke mentioned in the first post you can see imusrt's Guide for Manual PLP Gaming Instructions for methods that will work on other cards (including Nvidia).
