Napoleon: Total War - How do I choose display to launch on?

Post by avesta »

Hi,

I have a 3 monitor setup and I want to launch the game on one of the secondary monitors. Is it possible to define which display the game should launch on?

On my other games you can usually add a simple line to the preferences file such as:

; Force Output Monitor
r_overrideDXGIOutput = 2

or

iAdapter=2

Is there such a function for Napoleon?

Thanks,

It seems to be a recurring issue in TW... You can specify a GPU, but not a monitor.
If you're in Win7 or 8, you may be able to trick the game using [Windows key]+[P] to select your secondary monitor only. Otherwise, maybe apps like Ultramon can help ?

Well I managed to make it launch on my secondary display by using the 'window location' feature of displayfusion. I set the napoleon.exe to launch on the display I want and it worked. However I haven't played yet to see if it's stable. I also need to get that CursorLock program, as the mouse cursor doesn't lock to the display.

Ok so it doesn't work correctly as planned.

First of all, it alternates between which display it launches on. On the first launch it opens on the primary. Then I exit the game and re-launch, and it goes to the secondary. If I exit and launch again, it goes back to the primary. Weird stuff.

Not to mention, the cursorlock program doesn't always lock the mouse to the display, it's totally random. Someone it locks, sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes, I have to launch the game 7-8 times before it works properly on the correct display, and locked. Absolutely frustrating. Any suggestions?

P.S Cursorlock creates a shortcut to the .exe, so in DisplayFusion I have to choose the shortcut file.
