Need For Speed Rivals

Post by r9800pro »

Eyefinity works with the game and HUD is perfectly centered but the game is Vert- it seems!

Image

EA screws anything it touches!

Any fix for this ?

I have no idea how they managed that, it's running the Frostbite engine which as far as I've seen from every other game using it, should be native horizontal plus, can you please check the frame rate, I would like to know if it's locked to 30 FPS, there was murmuring that it was going to be.

Yeah :( sucks that it is botched the FOV not sure if there is a command for it, there is a profile file that you can add settings its int he document folder under the ghosts folder.

Also the game is locked at 30fps which sucks.

If no one figures it out with out a hack let me know and I be more than happy to hook up Helifax or Hayden so they can look into it for the community.

Would it be too much to ask these freaking devs or companies to put a little effort into their games :(

Oh god, nvm, whoever made this game are bloody idiots, the game is FPS bound, meaning how fast the game runs is depented on how fast the game renders!

Thanks to TB for point me to the video.

The game is indeed capped@30fps and using -GameTime.MaxSimFps 60 with the shortcut doubles the game rendering speed lol

I can live with 30fps till the patch it but Vert- makes the game totally unplayable with Eyefinity for me

What are the _exact_ issues you want fixed?

Decoupling gameplay speed from the renderer?
Eyefinity doesnt work but surround does?

From what I've seen *game isn't out here till Friday* it's Vertical minus, HUD is however centred, and from the videos I've seen the games processing is bound to it's FPS everything goes twice as fast if the frame rate is set to 60 FPS. The frame rate itself is fixed to 30 but can be overriden with a launch command apparently.

Yeah - i dont have it, just sounds like an interesting on to try and fix, with the renderer tied to game speed.

This game actually looks sweet - but like mentioned, I can't believe it's Vert-

The most important issue that needs fixing is Vert- and from what I can see it is game related not Eyefinity related and it should be the same with nVidia Surround.

Unlocking the 30fps cap without doubling render speed would be nice too but it may take time and to be honest, 30fps seems fine untill a patch is out.

By the way, the game is not yet released here neither but I used VPN to run it from Origin :D

Cheers.

Hayden, let me know if you want me to score you a key if you want to give it a shot. Like others said the FOV is jacked, FPS locked at 30 and I have Nvidia cards, so I think it be a fix for everyone.

Funny how Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2012) does not have this issue. I guess it was a different underlying engine..?

I snooped around Documents/Ghost Games/ and opened some files in a text editor, and found one that was a config file with options that started with "GstRender". A bit of googling found some other games which have a GstRender.FieldOfView setting. I tried adding that and setting it to 150 and then starting the game, but it had no effect. (not at my gaming pc right now so I can't give the exact file but there are only a few files in there, I'm sure you can find it if you want to play around with that)

I am not going to stress over the 30 FPS thing personally. It would be nice if it was faster, but I played the game for several hours last night. Clearly it doesn't really bother me. The widescreen thing really does though. I tried first-person driving for a while, which looks okay in wide screen (not sure if FOV adjusts or the tight FOV is enough to see everything). But I'd rather drive from behind the car, so I just went down to a single monitor and played.

Anyway in my case I also feel it's #firstworldproblems, given that I am on 3 27" monitors, so even "just" one is still huge compared to other people... So it's hard to complain, I feel a bit guilty.

I believe Most wanted was an unreal engine game, this one is running the frosbite 3 engine, so yeah. BUT as we've seem from Battlefield 4, the game is easily capable of scaling properly - I've been able to at least get to a save point by playing in the first person camera view.

This game is locked at 30 fps because that's all the consoles could handle and achieve 1080p, So yes this is a shit port at best. Unlocking it to 60fps is going to require a patch from the devs, because it breaks the game otherwise :/

I've also tried to force some AA through inspector, but it looks like you need an appropriate flag. I'm actually really disappointed.

Anyone tried this in 21:9? Curious if i should bother with it.

EDIT: can confirm it works at 2560 x 1080 native without any tricks.

Screens (21:9) all ultra and 1.5x res scaling (3840x1620)

Looks good on screens, in game is a little different - but then again that's probably due to a zoom FOV for triple monitor users :/

Anyone using Nvidia, figure out how to get some AA happening?

Have the game now, can confirm the follow fundamental issues with the game:

1: Game is vertical minus, so it will have a low FoV on anything higher then a 16:9 monitor.
2: Game has locked to 30 frames per second, and breaks if forced higher.
3: Game has no steering wheel support, I've not tried looking for a manual fix for this, but it pretty much means I've wasted my money on the game.

I sent a copy to Hayden, he is going to check it out when he has a moment and see what he can do. FOV I would think can probably be fixed but the fps lock, well who knows how that is implemented?

There is hope.

Looks even better ingame, especially with the dynamic weather effects/particles/birds/dust etc + night/day cycle.

AA can be done via resolution scaling just like in bf4 but not through the menu. You need to create a shortcut or bat file and add this after the exe .. -Render.ResolutionScale 1.5 like <"nfs dir path\NFS14.exe" -Render.ResolutionScale 1.5.

That will basically render it at 1.5x the res you are using ingame, downsampling it and giving you AA. Depending on your hardware you might be able to push more or have to go lower. I'm on a 780 and i'm sitting at 1.5 @ 2560x1080 so 3840 x 1620 real res. Haven't tried 2.0 yet but i'm getting the 30 fps constant with this.

Oh sweet thanks - I wonder if it will work in the launch options of origin - I'll give it a go! Now I just have to wait for Hayden to fix it.

EDIT: Doing it through origin didn't seem to work, so I added a short-cut. @ 2.0 it gives me artifacting and is majorly slow. 1.5 works alright.
