Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
Good day!
I am having issues with getting 4 monitors in portrait mode with a http://www.asus.com/Graphics_Cards/EAH6 ... ifications card. (ASUS HD 6950 6 monitor support).
4320x1920 (4 portraits, next to each other) Can not get picture on the last monitor. Landscape works fine. Anyway around this at all or driver limitation?
Thank you!

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
i tought 3x1P and 5x1P were the only supported modes. but i'm not sure about that! Did you try sending an Email to amd customer support?
We gonna send it to outa space!
Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
Nope normally check forums first :p. Looks like i have to.
Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
According to amd:
http://www.amd.com/UK/PRODUCTS/TECHNOLO ... et-up.aspx
Unfortunately this may not be possible in portrait mode. (Get another monitor...lol)
OR do 3x1p plus and extended display in landscape
Hope this helps in some way....

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
Thank you very much for your reply.
Yes it looks as if it is just not supported.
If there are any hacks/ways too get it working i would love a suggestion.

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
1. SOFTTh that only works in dx9
2. (no idea! Just my idea) this Zotac mDP to dual HDMI adapter creates one spanned surface.
So 2 adapters and getting 2x1P might be an idea..... Wait.... They only work in Landscape mode..... Not? Uhhhhh... Someone here has them and there are a few Topics about that here.

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
only these two configs arent avaible: 4x1P and 2x3L (not3x2)
2x3L will be great bcoz with dp @ dual hdmi adapter willbe easy to make 4x3 videowall

Checkout the mview website:
http://www.mviewtech.com/index_en.asp
They have HEAPS of these modules, support for 3D, 5x1, 1x4, 6x1 and more (But cost up to $10K...)
I checked out this and they can stack/cascade onto each other:
Both the MV103HDP pro and the MV103-HDVE Pro have cascade function according to the specs.
For video walls they are better than matrox because you can manage more than 2 modules per computer.
I checked the price on the MV103-HDVE Pro and its around AUD $350.
EDIT: I just saw the MAX resolution for ATI eyefinity 3x3 (Which I assume is out of a SINGLE port) is 1280x1024 per sceen. 3x1280x1024x3 @60Hz so this would be the max res in a video wall

Its possible to use more than two matroxs th2go in one card
I tested it with hd6850 and gtx660ti
Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
I agree, i had 2x dp digital se versions and a digital edition (DVI) hooked up to a 7970, but was limited to 1280x1024 per screen in a 3x3 setup. I know this is because of the DVI matrox, but powerdesk will NOT support more than 2 and they need to be the same for custom resolutions and bezel compensation.
Compatibility matrix:
Output Matrix:
http://www.matrox.com/graphics/en/produ ... iple_gxms/
But yeah, if the drivers are installed you can use as many matrox TH2G modules as you want and just set the resolution in windows (As windows detects them, no custom resolutions)
Anyway im gonna try this again with the mview unit for the DVI, the matrox digital se for the mini dp and see what i can get, im hoping for 5040x 3150. At least this way I SHOULD get bezel compensation and down the track i'll buy 9x 40inch LED TVs.
PS: How did you get Dirt2 to work so smoothly on 15 high res screens? My Sapphire 6Gb Vapor-X oc (1100mhz) card seems to struggle above 4000x1800 (On different games) but was wondering is softTH optimised for nvidia/cuda? I read somewhere it wasn't.

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
So, from the beginning:
With HD4xxx and older ATI cards you can easy get 5040x1050 (or maybe even 5760x1080) from one DVI
Just when eyefinity comes around ati limited triplhead2go units to max 1024x768 per screen.
1. When I had hd6850 it was version with two DP and dvi SL, DVI DL and hdmi, when I test 12 monitor setup 2(6)x2 i have only simple dp @ dvi adapter (single link)
So i can get max res 2400x600 from one output (3x800x600) and I get 4800x1200 on 12 monitors with 4x matrox triplehead.
2. Half year ago i tested it with GTX660 card (DVI DL + DVI DL + DP + HDMI) I used first three outputs with 3x matrox bcoz with HDMI and triplehead2go you can get only single link res.
So I get 5760x1080 x3. (NOT 5760x3240)
When I try to make surround mode in nvidia drivers I got bsod or totally mess in drivers.
I dont remember exactly but as far I remember I try 3x1 setup so (3x) 3x1L 17280x1080 (NOT WORK), and also portrait from 3x 1080x5760 (3240x5760) and it FAILED too.
3. Some time ago i bought professional matrox card (m9138) - on matrox site they write its can operate 5760x1080 from one output but you need DP version.
I have DVI and dp @ displayport dual link adapter from bizlink) and max I can get its 3840x1024 - in modes on power desk I see 1920x1080 50Hz (3) mode, but I dunno how to get it I think this is a one way to do 3x3 wall with max res.
PS
15 monitors game was operated by softTH (youtube - dirt2 on 15 monitors - gameplay) and on end of movie I put some screens from windows display prosperities.

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
Hmmm, I have to respectfully disagree:
Not true as I previously stated:
AND it was run by 2x7970s in XFIRE for a total of 3840x3072 in a 1x3 setup (Which worked fine, except deus-ex HR which detected eyefinity as 1x3 so i could see alot of roof!) but with no option for custom res or bezel comp because as was stated:
That is what Matrox states about multi GXM setups.
So if I had better screens and the standard res of the LCD was supported (DVI version max std res is 1280x1024x3) then I could have gone higher, BUT:
So that is why I will get the mview unit for the DVI output and use the 2x TH2G digital SE for the other 6 (And I SHOULD be able to access all the resolutions unless my lcds cant handle 58Hz). Also my screens to test (9x 22' Dell) are limited to 1680x1050.
And I was just asking if there was any trick you used to do that screen? Im using SoftTH too, there is NO WAY to run games on 15 screens in windows without it! I think you used an AMD CPU so the PCI-e x16 are only gen 2, my board is 2011 CPU with 2x PCI-e x16 gen3 + 1x PCI-e x8 gen3. I was wondering because you used an old gtx570 (i think) and i have a 6gb 7970 oc, maybe i should run the matrox units so my primary card has 6 screens, then i could still run a 5x1 eyefinity group and have lower bandwidth for the other screens (SoftTH crashes for me when i go above 11 or 12 heads). Maybe its just that game as AMD did their 3x 4K UHD setup with dirt3 so it might be more user friendly. I still get over 30fps with deus-ex HR with high graphics (no AA) but only 4000x1800.

Re: Eyefinity problem 4 monitors portrait
yes, my mistake about 1024x768 - i meant 1280x1024 per screen with ati hd5,6 or 7 series
about softTH and pci-e
I dont make any badwitch test but x8 2.0 pci-e should be enough for even 5-6x 1920x1080 screen
PS
if yo u want talk, send me a PM (I have plenty of time at evenings)
I hope I can start with new project soon - 15 monitors but little diffrent like last time
