Stupid newbie question about viewing area (FOV) ?

Post by MDesigner »

I'm relatively new to owning a widescreen 16:10 display. I loaded up UT2004 and set it to 1280x800...and then I started thinking, do I have an advantage over those on 4:3 displays? It looks like it's NOT stretching the display out, so does that mean I have a wider field of view than my online opponents?

It depends on the game, but for the most part, yes. In the case of UT2004, definitely.

heh ... this reminds me of an OLD cartoon (think early '80's ... ya im that old ...) that had a picture of Mos Eisley and beside it the same picture, masked to approximate what a stormtrooper would see of it ...

it's no wonder that in the movies the stormtroopers were dropping like flies ... they couldnt see anything that wasnt directly in front of them ...
