Widescreen for PC version of Prince of Persia:Warrior Within

Does anyone know how to play Prince of Persia: Warrior Within in widescreen on the pc? The only resolution I can get to show in widescreen is 640x480 which looks like crap.

i'm playing on 1280x920, not really widescreen, but looks ok. Wish someone would *cough* hack *cough* the exe to add widescreen resolutions (I'd prefer 1680x1050).

It would seem that a configuaration change should work as I look at the configuration,txt and my custom video is listed corectly. But I can'nt select it from the game. Anyone know the trick?

I'm currently having the same problem with this game.

Does anyone know if it's the same engine as the previous Prince of Persia game? In that case, we could look for those solutions instead...

Yep looks like the same engine. I don't have the game myself but looked at a cracked EXE it looks like more or less the same patch should work. I've updating my modified patches.ini, download it and give it a go if you like :)

Same deal as the POP1 patch, you'll need a cracked EXE to apply it.

How did you get those resolutions? The two .ini files in the game folder don't appear to have much to do with game settings.

It doesn't look like there's any difference between the 1600x1200 and 1920x1200. Check the sides and corner and they pretty much match up.

Right. You've got a cracked .exe file. Go into the directory where the game .exe is and create a folder called "backup" (you can call it whatever you want, but I tend to stick to that) and move the current game .exe into that folder for safekeeping.

Then copy the cracked .exe to where the game .exe used to be.

Go look in this thread and this thread for the two other files you need:

(or the direct links, but read the posts in the threads, so you know what to do)

the patches.ini file

and Wogg's UniWS

then follow the instructions in the threads to patch the .exe file to run in widescreen.

another thing to note is that when playing in 16:9 or 16:10 resolutions, the games 2D health and sands of time bar is cut off. Sadly this game was not coded to be played in Widescreen properly

well, I tried it with the two files, but it's not working. I just don't have the resolution to choose in the game. I patched the game with a cracked .exe and I choose 1680x1050 as the resolution.
I don't think, that the problem is the german version of the game?

well i got it to run in 1280x720 and it works now in widescreen and in the first run it cut the bars off but now it dosent :D

Please give me a correct POP2.exe or has already changed the POP2.exe,Resolution that I need is 856x480,1152x648,1280x720,1776x1000,1920x1080.

It is works for me, however it seems to me that this setting cut the top and maybe the bottom of the gaming area also. Especially when you check out the lifecycle circle at the uper left corner.

Can I play the game like this? I mean can I climb, jump attack, or do whatever the game needs when I cant see the top of the gaming screen?

Does anybody play the game like this?

I have been posting a few days ago about PoP 1 widescreen fix that had the VERT- problem which cut the whole health bar...

I have since finished POP1 and moved onto Pop2... however, even if the widescreen game list PoP2 is listed as "supported" considering you have the fixed .exe and apply the UNIws patch... it DOESNT state the game also has a VERT- problem...

So i have made 2 screenshot... 1 at 1024x768 in 4x3... and the second at 1280x720 in 16x9... although the problem is a bit less than in POP1, it is still pretty bad and i personally would prefer to play streched...

You can run the game Vert- on almost any resolution thanks to UniWS.

After the other Price games and now Far Cry 2, I have little optimism for the new Prince of Persia - due out in a couple weeks - and its' widescreen capabilities...
